Igbo lexemes

[edit]

Hello JosefAnthony. I saw you were creating some Igbo lexemes. I would like to send you some informations that may help you when editing:

  • It is not necessary to create a lexeme with an initial capital letter, unless it's the name of a country (for example, Naịjiria) or another word that really needs to be capitalized. This will help other editors to avoid creating duplicates (this happens often, one lexeme is created in uppercase and another in lowercase, even though they are the same).
  • Special:NewLexeme can be tedious to create new Igbo lexemes. Instead, use the Wikidata Lexeme Forms tool to create them faster and easier: click here to create a noun and here to create an adjective using the tool. When using it, you can also create a lexeme with more than one possible spelling, separating them with a "/" (example). Also, it is not necessary to add "noun (Q1084)" as a "Grammatical feature" of the form (like in this lexeme), because it's already shown at the top of the page (in "Lexical category").

Thank you so much for helping us adding these lexemes. And feel free to ask me any questions if you need help in the future. Enaldodiscussão 22:41, 26 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

EnaldodiscussãoThanks for reaching out...And I will definitely contact you, when I have any confusion regards creating Igbo lexemes. Cheers! JosefAnthony (talk) 23:07, 26 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sea salt and vinegar

What happened here? Surely "Salt and vinegar chip" isn't a family name? Samoasambia ✎ 14:22, 13 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Notability

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikidata. I see that you recently created an item that does not clearly indicate its notability. The Wikidata project only accepts items that meet its notability criteria, and your item is therefore likely to be deleted soon. In brief, items must have an associated Wikipedia article, must be needed for statements on another notable item, or must have both identifiers and serious sources. For the last case, a good indication of notability would be multiple articles about the subject in independent publications like newspapers or magazines. You can add such sources as references to specific claims using reference URL (P854), or as top-level claims using described at URL (P973).

Also, this may not apply in this specific case, but you should know that we discourage editors from self-promotion, contributing on topics with which they have a strong personal connection, as this may present a conflict of interest. If you are being paid to edit here, then you are obliged to disclose this. For a longer version, you might find it useful to read the essay "How to create an item on Wikidata so that it won't get deleted".  Bovlb (talk) 03:39, 5 May 2026 (UTC) --Bovlb (talk) 03:39, 5 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Are you going to be able to fix these items? Bovlb (talk) 19:57, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Given your failure to respond, I have deleted three of these items.
@Accuratecy051, Emmafman1, JosefAnthony, King ChristLike, Lucy Iwuala, Macocobovi: @Tochiprecious:

We have identified a notability-related issue involving an editor who is registered for one of your events. It is not clear whether the edits in question are related to this event, but we are reaching out because facilitator follow-up is often the most effective way to address these situations.

In particular, it would be helpful to ensure that participants understand a few basic expectations for contributing to Wikidata:

  • New items should satisfy notability requirements at the time they are created, so that they can be maintained by the community.
  • New contributors are generally most successful when they begin by improving existing items rather than creating large numbers of new ones. Activities such as item creation campaigns, bulk creation, and other high-volume workflows require experience and appropriate supervision. See "Quality before quantity" for more.
  • Feedback, including warnings, deletion discussions, and requests for improvement, is a normal part of Wikidata's review process. Contributors are expected to read and respond to messages concerning their edits.

Events that emphasize these expectations early tend to be more successful both in helping the project and in providing participants with a positive editing experience.

Thank you for your help in following up with participants and supporting productive contributions.
