Motivation

[edit]

The three Belgian regions (Brussels, Flanders, and Wallonia), together with the Federal State, established a standardised system for sharing address information across the different levels of government, known as Belgian Streets and Addresses (BeStAddress). Each region remains responsible for maintaining its own BeStAddress database, which means it is not possible to propose a single property applicable to all three regions.

This proposal therefore focuses on street name identifiers in the Brussels-Capital Region, with plans to also introduce municipality identifiers and address identifiers (house numbers). JhowieNitnek (talk) 12:47, 9 January 2026 (UTC)reply
