Motivation
editI will use my new property used accros many Italian municipalities, provinces, regions, government agencies, public institutions, etc. (potentially 100+ items). It indicates whether the entity has a link to an Italian Government website displayed in the slim header bar, as seen for the Province of Trento, but not for Bolzano/Bozen.-VictiniFan360 (talk) 09:15, 16 August 2026 (UTC)
Discussion
edit- @VictiniFan360: Hi, could you please add some values to your examples? -- Yirba (talk) 14:01, 16 August 2026 (UTC)
- I’ve did it.
- Thanks. VictiniFan360 (talk) 14:47, 16 August 2026 (UTC)
- Its a rather narrow property, and do we really want to replicate it with 200 similar properties for other countries? Vicarage (talk) 15:49, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- Why is official website (P856) not suitable? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:51, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
Oppose This proposal doesn't make sense at all. Which items should they go on and what would the values be? Opposing until it gets clarified so it doesn't get created by lack of opposition. Ainali (talk) 16:13, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- The idea is to check if an Italian public administration site is part of the official national network that verifies whether its “Slim Header” includes a direct “Governo Italiano” link pointing to governo.it. VictiniFan360 (talk) 18:46, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- Basically, my goal is to a verification rule on Wikidata to map official institutional websites across Italy. Will work on Open the target website (eg regione.taa.it or provincia.tn.it), expand the main menu or check the top banner, and verify if there is an explicit “Governo Italiano” link present. It matters because It provides a standardized way to confirm that a regional or provincial portal is officially tied into the central government's digital infrastructure network. - If I understand correctly, you are saying that the benefit of a new property over using official website (P856) (possibly with some qualifiers) would be, that we can have a property constraint verifying that the given website links to governo.it? I think this is impossible, if the verification can only be done by visiting the website and looking if the "Governo Italiano" link is present. --Volvox (talk) 19:55, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing that out! That is a very valid point regarding Wikidata's technical capabilities constraint checks are designed to evaluate internal item data, not scrape external sites dynamically. To achieve the same objective while respecting Wikidata modeling norms, we could refine the approach the data modelling , Basically this starts sticking to official website (P856) and use qualifiers or statement ranks to indicate verified compliance with AGID/Italian central design standards (or Verification Workflows) Do you think modeling this via statement qualifiers on P856 makes more sense than a standalone property in this context? Oppose That's what official website (P856) is for. Also, the examples do not show the URLs the property is proposed for. Aschiff-emco (talk) 22:24, 18 August 2026 (UTC)- Wikidata doesn't have a Boolean datatype. This is best handled via a qualifier on the official website - something like has characteristic (P1552) "official Italian government website" or something like that. Not done, @Ainali, ArthurPSmith, Aschiff-emco, Pigsonthewing, Vicarage, VictiniFan360: @Volvox, Yirba: No consensus of proposed property at this time based on the above discussion. -- Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 07:11, 9 September 2026 (UTC)
