Motivation
[edit]This new Wikidata property to identify artworks (Q44847669) would further improve our coverage of both American painting (Q107423978) and French painting (Q518683). Thierry Caro (talk) 10:47, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Comment The uncorrected, trivial errors on Wildenstein Plattner Institute (Q106785227) lead me to worry that this property is unlikely to be maintained. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jerimee (talk • contribs) at 15:36, 18 June 2026 (UTC).
- @Thierry Caro: Hi, do you have any thoughts on this comment? Yirba (talk) 22:14, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Yirba: I don't really know what the errors are. @Jerimee: What did you have in mind? Can you correct the problems, possibly? Thierry Caro (talk) 11:55, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
- I've fixed a few things. Not sure if those are what Jerimee was referring to, though. Yirba (talk) 12:43, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
Comment It sure looks interesting (
Support the idea), but it looks like it only concerns a few artists: Wesselmann, Gauguin, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Bearden and Gonzalès. Is it usual to create a property for such a small scope? --Daehan (talk) 09:11, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Daehan: Only a few artists are covered, but thousands of artworks, which is what matters. On top of that, yes, we do have properties like Paintings by Salvador Dalí ID (P6595) or Roy Lichtenstein: A Catalogue Raisonné ID (P11885), that are for one artist only. Thierry Caro (talk) 09:52, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! No problem, then. --Daehan (talk) 10:36, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
