Rationale, discussion and results

[edit]

Reason: Mass creation of roughly ~40 non-notable, promo-ish items, most of them about entrepreneurs. All of these follow the very same generic structure, consisting of social media identifiers, occupation, and basic personal data. Two of them have similar usernames (Baderbot and Nexxabot). They have edited the same pages as well:

This pattern has spread across other wikis as well. For example, both Amgstow and FHGence created Roberto Panciatici on simplewiki. I am confident they are all the same person and would not be surprised if there were additional socks out there that I may have overlooked. Thank you in advance, —Hasley + 04:58, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Results: Joymoster is Possible to Likely. The others are Confirmed to Wikidata:Requests for checkuser/Case/Bakalia756, and thus this case should be merged into that one. Additionally, the following accounts are also Confirmed to be the same as this group (other than Joymoster):

All blocked and tagged. It's additionally Possible that this whole group is an extension of Wikidata:Requests for checkuser/Case/Marcyway4 but I will defer to @Lymantria: to make a firmer determination of that.--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:31, 5 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Case moved to Bakalia756, link to Marcyway4 Unlikely. --Lymantria (talk) 08:42, 5 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reason: I noticed that these two account seem to be working on the same promotional item. The masterpuppet account previously created Q140454710 which clearly are about themselves, judging from the user name. I deleted the item on July. Several days ago (4th of October), a new account were created, and created Q141639180 which had same subject label with previous item. The second item was deleted by Ameisenigel on 4th of October. Due to this I suspect the second account is a sockpuppet. My reasoning also supported by the fact that the sockpuppet account create two WD:AN request related to the deleted subject: the book they wrote and the subject item itself. Yamato Shiya • (Hello!) 13:09, 5 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Results: Developerayushanand is Stale. Blocking users on behavioral grounds. --Lymantria (talk) 05:52, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reason: Assuming "AC" in the username stands for Authority Control, this continues the established theme. This user exhibits unusual familiarity with Wikidata for a new account, and similarly demonstrates strong interest in authority files. See Intersect Contribs. --Yirba (talk) 09:30, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

AChelp (talk) 15:23, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oh, thank you. Yirba (talk) 15:25, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I confirm that
  1. AC in AChelp stands for "Authority control".
  2. User AChelp has interest in "Authority control" but not necessarily in "authority files". Also, the interest is focused on improving the documentation in Wikidata especially by cleaning up existing information and adding information where gaps exist and furthermore on improving the settings in the Wikidata properties. Consistent information and consistent organization of the information will make it easier for others to participate.
https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Universal_Code_of_Conduct states: "Every Wikimedian, whether they are a new or experienced editor, a community functionary, an affiliate or Wikimedia Foundation board member or employee, is responsible for their own behaviour. " - I follow that.
Wikidata:Requests for checkuser states: "2. Running a check will only be done to combat disruption on Wikidata, or as required to assist checkuser investigations on other Wikimedia wikis" - can you explain where "disruption on Wikidata" happened? I am not active "on other Wikimedia wikis". AChelp (talk) 15:42, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Underneath it says "Valid reasons for running a check include, for example: suspected block evasion". In this case I suspected block evasion. My sincere apologies if my suspicion was incorrect. Yirba (talk) 17:06, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
That cannot overrule "Please don't ask us to run checks without good reason; be aware of the following before requesting" - "2. Running a check will only be done to combat disruption on Wikidata, or as required to assist checkuser investigations on other Wikimedia wikis"
Also, no evidence for "block evasion" with respect to "MrProperLawAndOrder" has been published.
https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Universal_Code_of_Conduct "3 – Unacceptable behaviour" - "Deliberately introducing biased, false, inaccurate or inappropriate content, or hindering, impeding or otherwise hampering the creation (and/or maintenance) of content." AChelp (talk) 17:11, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
You are correct that checks should only be run with good reason. In this case, MrProperLawAndOrder has previously evaded blocks (see previous requests on this page). Since you exhibited similar patterns to that user, I suspected you were the same person and had evaded the block. CheckUsers can assess whether that is a good enough reason or not. If they think it is not a good reason, they are welcome to refuse to run a check, and in that case I apologise and shall exercise greater restraint when requesting checks in future. Yirba (talk) 17:33, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Re "MrProperLawAndOrder has previously evaded blocks " there is no indication that that happened. And when looking at https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/block&page=User%3AMrProperLawAndOrder there is no indication that MrProperLawAndOrder (account created 2020-04-03) was rightfully blocked. User:Tamawashi was last active 2014, there is no way to confirm via CheckUser that these two have been using the same hardware, software, IP range.
Users requesting CheckUser here and those performing CheckUser could be in violation of the UCoC: "Deliberately introducing biased, false, inaccurate or inappropriate content, or hindering, impeding or otherwise hampering the creation (and/or maintenance) of content." AChelp (talk) 19:58, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't believe that I have violated the UCoC, but I welcome the opinion of any administrator. Yirba (talk) 20:11, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reason: All mentioned accounts created items about "marketing 1on1" (Q122216187, Q134009080, Q136450848, Q141647574, Q141678063). I am filing this request escpecially because User:Tz425 opened an unblock request (User talk:Tz425, note that an earlier discussion has been deleted) after being blocked again for recreation, while Medrogue was recreating an item for the entity in question again that has been deleted subsequently.
