@IrisChronomia: Looks like one now-blocked user was hitting your user talk page. Unless they come back with a different account and do the same, I don't see a reason for protection. If another admin disagrees, though, I won't object. - Jmabel ! talk 17:58, 29 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's fine. I asked for the protection back when it was in progress; all was resolved now, and the disruptor became a number on my "user_page_vandalized_count".
Feel free to archive, and thanks. IrisChronomia (talk) 18:33, 29 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hey, looks like someone's aroused again; shall I get a pp-vandalism? IrisChronomia (talk) 13:13, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Blocked. @IrisChronomia: I can semi-protect your user talk page if you like, but keep in mind that the likely result here would have been that they would still have made a bunch of bogus deletion requests, and you would not have been notified. Is that what you want? - Jmabel ! talk 13:26, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yep. I know the deletion requests won't go through, but the cross-wiki notifications are a buzzing mosquito. The best way to ignore LTAs are to not be aware of them. IrisChronomia (talk) 13:29, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'll semi-protect your user talk page. Just be aware that if they continue, and you can't see it, they may do a lot more damage before they can be stopped. - Jmabel ! talk 13:33, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

The Template:PD-SO is confusing and I want to nominate it for deletion, but I can't because it is protected.

[edit]

PD-SO is confusing and must be deleted. Unprotect it so I can nominate for deletion. Someone outside Portuguese speaking countries won't know it stands for "Domínio Público, Símbolos Oficiais". There is Template:PD-Brazil-Gov for that. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 17:21, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

The Template:PD-SO should not be deleted without mass replacing it with Template:PD-Brazil-Gov. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 17:23, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
 Not done PD-SO is a redirect to PD-Brazil-Gov and has been for a decade. There's no reason to delete the redirect. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 17:46, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
PD-SO would be confusing for people outside Portuguese-speaking countries, that's why I nominated the other redirect (DP-SO) for deletion... Candidyeoman55 (talk) 18:01, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

While trying to crop File:Tomasz Siemoniak i generał bryg. Grzegorz Gielerak.jpg the spamblacklist detected "archive.is" in the license template Template:MONCopyright, preventing me from uploading the cropped version. Bastruk (talk) 11:44, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Jeff G. I think it's the "important notice" (here: Template:MONCopyright/i18n/en) that still prevents me from uploading. Bastruk (talk) 12:24, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Copyvios by User:PayamAvarwand

[edit]

I have just nominated two suspected copyvios uploaded by User:PayamAvarwand, they are File:Ahvaz - Students - 2536.jpg and File:Mitra Cabaret - Ahvaz - 2536.jpg. Meanwhile I have discovered one more: File:Iranian military women - 2536.jpg (compare https://www.instagram.com/p/DAHBJ2gsxAQ/ ). It seems that the user colorizes some historical photos, adds their watermark to them and uploads them to Commons as their "own" work. Having checked the history of the user's talk page I found out that the problems with copyright are longlasting. See also Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by PayamAvarwand. Having checked their global account I noticed that the user was indefblocked at fa.wikipedia. Thus it seems to me that the contributor's uploads cannot be trusted generally. -- Jan Kameníček (talk) 19:09, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, yes I have added my name to the images, so that it's clear, that there will be no problem with them, since I own the original images. And yes, many pages use my images.
About the history of my uploads, you found it well, I have uploaded many images of my friend (from Iran) and he had no problem with that, but I was informed, that I cannot upload the images of other people, even with agreement. That's why I didn't try again. My friend in Iran has no easy access to Internet. I accepted that deletions. PayamAvarwand (talk) 20:17, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@PayamAvarwand: Who snapped the photos?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 21:09, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
The removed photos in the past were not mine. He snapped themː https://www.instagram.com/mehrdad.misaghian/?hl=en PayamAvarwand (talk) 21:15, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@PayamAvarwand: Where are the free licenses?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 21:19, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Honestly, I have no problem releasing my photos, and neither does my father.
In wikipedia, every Photo with my name on it, is free to publish, which means, either I snapped the photo or my dad.

Page protection request for File:Facebook logo (2023).svg

[edit]

There has been a lot of vandalism on File:Facebook logo (2023).svg spanning back several months and from several users (mainly from temporary accounts and newly registered users). The edits should all be reverted now, but given that the file is used across several Wikimedia sites, I think an indefinite semi-protection should be placed on the page to prevent future vandalism attempts.
