Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS Released With Linux 7.0 HWE Stack

For those continuing to make use of the Ubuntu 24.04 Long Term Support "LTS" series, Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS is out today as the newest point release.

Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS incorporates all of the stable release updates over the past few months for providing a quicker initial deployment on new Ubuntu 24.04 installs due to needing to fetch less package updates. Plus it continues with a new hardware enablement "HWE" stack, which is now the key packages pulled in from Ubuntu 26.04.

The Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS HWE stack provides the Linux 7.0 kernel and Mesa 26.0 graphics drivers and other related package updates for those wanting a better experience particularly when running on newer hardware. But for gamers, enthusiasts, and others it's usually worthwhile for the most performant and feature-rich experience especially when it comes to the upgraded GPU drivers.

The Kubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Budgie 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu MATE 24.04.5 LTS, Lubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Kylin 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Studio 24.04.5 LTS, Xubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, Edubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04.5 LTS and Ubuntu Unity 24.04.5 LTS flavors all complement the official Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS release media out today.
