As the show’s heart, Brammall is effortlessly likeable enough for us to invest completely in what happens to him, despite knowing it will be bittersweet at best. Last Seen is seriously good.

It’s not a true story and it all seems implausible, but it’s suspenseful and the seaside setting is lovely. I’m pretty sure if I went missing for 11 years no one would care anymore, but a pretty young thing lives on forever. That said the excellent acting alone make it worth viewing.

Det. Ian Ridley embarks on the case of his missing chin. I'm assuming, I didn't finish it

If Last Seen is about as cheerful as Wallander with a hangover, it really is gripping too: a study in parental protective instincts twisted out of shape. So fair dinkum.

While I was intrigued by where the story would lead, not every element stuck the landing. Instead, Last Seen feels like a series teetering on the cusp of potential, delivering some powerful moments that are dampened by some glaring issues with the show's presentation.

If Last Seen were any longer — most episodes are under 50 minutes — its failures would probably irk me more, but as is I was able to put the stumbles aside and concentrate on Brammall, Lourdes and the murky situation.

Ultimately, this series is more focused on navigating the ripple effects that one devastating crime can create, and attempting to understand what could drive someone to commit such an act, rather than spending the entire season building to a major unveiling.

Last Seen, with its ashy visual palette, isn’t a particularly thrilling crime drama; it fares far better as a turbulent and insightful family saga. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it spins along just enough to reach a satisfying destination.

Good first episode but at the end of the first episode they show what is coming up next and they practically showed the whole thing, spoiling everything. I tried watching the 2nd episode and it was obvious and quickly went downhill, weak storyline and was very disappointing, it had the potential to be a very good show.
