“Brothers” is a classic Dumb Dad sitcom, times two. .... And though the stars dominate the plot and are fun to watch, it’s the kids, wives and sundry minor characters who bring the series to life.

You’ve already been streaming the hang-out flow state of Harrelson and McConaughey – in films, in ads, in other TV shows – and Brothers just puts a frame around these famously bro-y celebrities’ bro-y vibe.

It’s far from the television event of the year, but it's an easygoing binge that flies by, leaving you with the sense that the two actors are exactly who you hoped they would be. Any continuation would need more thoughtful plotting, but taken on its own merits, the show is alright, alright, alright.

Something fuzzier and more palatable, a lack of edge that feels antithetical to the kinds of projects both actors tend to take. Time may be a flat circle, but “Brothers” is just flat.

It’s queue-filler of the highest order—TV-like product with megastar wattage. The half-hour episodes go down as easy as the craft brews McConaughey holds so conspicuously label-to-camera, but they lead to neither drunken comedic euphoria or regrettable “I can’t believe I watched the whole thing” hangover.

“Brothers” has eyes for only one central relationship, and every second spent on satellite pairings sags with infectious boredom.

Apple TV's "Brothers" squanders Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson's chemistry on lazy jokes and a distinct lack of purpose.
