Welcome

[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! Chihunglu83 (talk) 07:50, 23 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Audios

[edit]

Thanks for making Turkish audios. Rodrigo5260 (talk) 02:04, 13 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I just recorded another batch of words. Several weeks ago I had tried recording the same words I just recorded now, but I'm guessing there was an outage with Lingue Libre at the time. I decided to record some vulgarities because I don't see anyone else doing it, and they are an just as integral a part of the language as any other. Is there any way I can streamline or automate the process of adding my voice recordings to entries? It was a bit tedious last time I did so. Wreaderick (talk) 14:35, 13 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don't know, maybe you should go to the official server of English Wiktionary Rodrigo5260 (talk) 18:43, 13 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Verbs with Noun heading

[edit]

You defined several Turkish verbs, such as yüklenmek, with a ===Noun=== header. These are tagged as using the New Entry Creator so maybe the JavaScript is doing something odd. Vox Sciurorum (talk) 14:55, 11 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I feel that I pay more attention to that sort of thing these days, that one is from back in October. Thanks for pointing it out though. I apologize if it's a continuing trend of mine. Do you have a list of others I can fix? Thank you Wreaderick (talk) 16:22, 11 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Category pages

[edit]

You can add relevant category pages for example https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Category:Turkish_noun_inflection-table_templates or more generally https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Category:Turkish_inflection-table_templates to the entry guidelines if you think there is a good spot for them. I don't know where specifically would be best. Zbutie3.14 (talk) 06:50, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'll go ahead and link to both the category pages and directly include the relevant templates. May I ask how you came to be aware of my changes to the entry guidelines? You were not among those I pinged on the talk page. Do you check the guidelines regularly? Wreaderick (talk) 08:44, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
No I just saw the beer parlour post Zbutie3.14 (talk) 10:04, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

If you’d like to be {{wgpinged}} for discussions about Turkish entries, please add your user name to the tr list at Template:workgroup ping § Human-readable list of groups.  ‑‑Lambiam 17:51, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks I will. Wreaderick (talk) 17:53, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello!

[edit]

I remember talking to you in Discord, would you want to join the Wiktionary server there? The #turkic chatroom is not very active, but it would benefit from you joining. :) AmaçsızBirKişi (talk) 07:35, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I'm actually spending a bit too much time on Wiktionary/Wikipedia (I'm active there too) these days and not focusing on my studies enough (school year's about to start). I'll probably join sometime soon though, it's been on my mind to do so for a while now. Thanks for inviting me. Wreaderick (talk) 07:52, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
