See AllI replaced the old UAC with the new Windows Administrator Protection feature, and it works perfectly
"but you can change it to Prompt for consent instead so you don't have to type in a password or PIN."
This bad advice.
It puts it back to Vista level security but without dimming the screen. Which is there for good reason (to prevent keyboard reading). If you're going to use this use "Prompt for consent on the secure Desktop". The clue is in the name.
It is more secure than Windows 7 which is set to "Prompt for consent for non-Windows binaries". As Vista got so much flag. Windows binaries don't flack. It's not needed but strictly less secure.

I've had all these options in GPEDIT since September, but it's still not enabled in my Windows 11. They do absolutely nothing. I still don't have the Admin Protection toggle in Windows Security.
To test it out, you can run a command to get it early, but damn MS phasing this out at a snail's pace. I don't have the New Start Menu either yet. It's a good job I don't like either then. Admin Protection has a rather serious issue (see my other comment).

When using it Admin Protection I came into a rather serious issue with it. Because the whole point of Admin Protection is you're a different Admin account and therefore it's not using your profile, but it's own. The App asking for Admin rights, will be looking for its config files not in your profile, but the Admin Protection's profile.
I use a backup up that suddenly lost all its backup config and settings. Backup data I'd spent years configuring. Luckily I'd spend a while reading what this feature does so knew (also had a backup of the config files). The fix was to copy the files from my profile into the new profile and then they were all back in the App.
But you weren't told any of this. There will be a lot of apps storing config files in your profile.
p.s. It's also a little annoying. with Admin Protection on it's it opens Task Manager only with rights for that user, so you now must click the Admin button bottom left, every time in order to see the Full List.

Neither does the old UAC either now too. The Vista UAC is still there, just turned off by default:
Change: "Behavior of elevation prompt administrators in Admin Approval Mode" -> From "Prompt for consent for non-Windows binaries" -> "Prompt for credentials on the secure desktop" and it's back.
I've gone back to the Old Vista UAC as it's a lot more secure than the Win7-Win11 (before Admin Protection) UAC. I hated it in the Vista days, but the reality is, the days of all Apps installing into Program Files just isn't the case anymore, many install into AppData.
I only see the UAC when opening Device Manager or Task Manager. So not often and have a Surface so just need to look at the camera which is in the screen I'm already using.
p.s. Not using Admin Protection due to issues with it, written in another comment.
This PowerToys feature is the Windows Search upgrade I've always wanted
Windows Search is on Microsoft's improvement listed released yesterday.
Windows 11 feels heavier than it should, and these defaults are part of the problem
Microsoft announced yesterday they're rolling back on Copilot integration. It doesn't mean it's going not we'll be seeing it in less places.
I've not found it has any performance hit.
Again it's because you need a decent amount of RAM in the PC..
