[edit]
Hello, I'm Madamebiblio. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent description edits didn't meet the Wikidata description guidelines. Descriptions should appear as though they were in the middle of a sentence, typically start with a lowercase letter, and written from a neutral point of view. For example, "pop singer" would be a better description than "He is the best pop singer." If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Madamebiblio (talk) 18:53, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
Overlord Characters (Fandom Scrape)
[edit]Could you make an guide how to scrape Fandom wikis or categories? Trade (talk) 21:18, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- Sure, I annotated and uploaded the Jupyter notebook I used to generate my fandom category scrape to PAWS. Tried to make it as plug-and-play as possible: you should be able to put in the fandom subdomain, default description, and default type, and be good to go with a new mix n'match catalog.

Question from BernhardWallner (09:27, 9 July 2026)
[edit]Hi IntensionalLogician,
I recently created/edited three items that involve myself and my family: my own profile, my father's profile, and our family company. Since that's a conflict of iinterest, I added a disclosure to my user page rather than stay silent about it:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:BernhardWallner
Items involved: - Q138754358 (myself) - Q138754320 (my father) - Q138753460 (family company)
I also run a separate account (Klx-bw) for paid client work at the agency I work for, which is disclosed separately there and cross-linked from both user pages.
If you have a moment to check whether everything looks correct, or if there's anything I should adjust, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks! Bernhard --BernhardWallner (talk) 09:27, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- @BernhardWallner Hi Bernard, your COI disclose looks good, however, created items still must meet the notability policy. Some items you have created, such as Q138754320 and Q138753460 do not clearly indicate notability (social media links are not enough), and are likely to be deleted. I would suggest reading How to create an item on Wikidata so that it won't get deleted. IntensionalLogician (talk) 21:16, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi IntensionalLogician,
- Thanks for the quick review, and for the link to Bovlb's guide. That clarified the "article about" vs. "mentioned in" distinction for me.
- I went back and checked what I actually have:
- For Full Balance GmbH (Q138753460): most of what I relied on turns out to be business directories (firmenabc.at, t3n.de), a tourism portal listing, and a 2017 APA-OTS press release, none of which meet the bar per the guide. I did find one piece with a named journalist and independent editorial control: "Full Balance reveals all-natural reflexology board" by Katie Barnes, Leisure Opportunities (UK spa and wellness trade press), 19 Apr 2024, https://www.leisureopportunities.co.uk/news/Full-Balance-reveals-all-natural-reflexology-board/353071. I'll add that as a reference. I understand one trade piece is likely not enough for the standard, so I'll keep looking for a second independent source. If I can't find one within a reasonable time, I'll nominate the item for deletion myself.
- For Kurt Wallner (Q138754320): honestly, I have not found a single source that is independently about him specifically, only mentions of him as co-founder inside pieces about the company. That does not establish notability per the guide. I would rather not argue for keeping a weakly sourced item, so I'll withdraw this one myself unless you see a structural-need reason to keep it.
- Thanks again for taking the time to check this properly, I appreciate that.

Question from Alessandro Caironi (16:25, 12 July 2026)
[edit]Hello! I saw that my item Alessandro Caironi is proposed for deletion. This profile represents an Italian singer-songwriter with over 120k subscribers on YouTube. Here is an independent and authoritative music press coverage on Rockol to prove my notability: Rockol Magazine Alessandro Caironi [ https://www.rockol.it/artista/alessandro-caironi ]. Please consider keeping this item. Thank you. --Alessandro Caironi (talk) 16:25, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- On WikiData, Youtube subscriber count does not imply notability. The item must either have a Wikipedia article, coverage in reliable independent sources like books or magazines, or incoming links from other notable items. If you have independent press coverage you should improve the item by adding it, however, your provided source would probably be seen as a trivial mention and thus not count as authoritative music press coverage. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 16:38, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
Applying WD:N Criterion 2
[edit]Hello — I'd like to raise a concern about how notability is being applied in some recent deletion nominations. Several of your notes state that an item must have a Wikipedia article, or coverage in books/magazines/independent press, to be notable. With respect, that is stricter than Wikidata:Notability actually requires. Independent secondary coverage is the English Wikipedia general-notability guideline, which WD:N is explicitly distinct from and lower than. Criterion 2 is satisfied whenever an item "refers to a clearly identifiable ... entity that can be described using serious and publicly available references," and the policy itself notes the guideline is "intentionally left a bit vague," with disagreements resolved at RfD — not by a coverage requirement. Official records such as government business registries are routinely accepted as serious references.
Could you re-read criterion 2 and reconsider how registry-backed entities are being assessed before nominating them? I think a few recent nominations may be applying a Wikipedia-style bar that doesn't fit here. Erateconnect (talk) 17:18, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- Indeed, criterion 2 is purposefully left vague. I nominated the item for deletion based on my reading of Criterion 2, which does not include a Texas Secretary of State registration and OpenCorporates page as being "serious publicly available references." due to the fact that anyone can create these identifiers for their items. WikiData operates based on consensus, so while this is my view, other users at RfD may feel differently and a discussion will play out there. IntensionalLogician (talk) 21:24, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- Criterion 2 doesn't say what your nomination assumes it says. "Anyone can create these identifiers" is true of user-generated profiles; it is simply not true of a Secretary of State registration. A Texas business registration is not an identifier the subject mints for itself — it is an official state record created by a legal formation filing (certificate of formation, registered agent, fee), issued and maintained by the government, and independently verifiable through the state's own public database, SOSDirect. It establishes legal name, entity type, jurisdiction, formation date, and standing. That is exactly what "serious and publicly available references" means.
- OpenCorporates is beside the point. It's an aggregator that republishes the official filing — hence the dedicated property, P1320 — so it's a mirror of the primary government record, not the basis of the claim. The item verifies directly against the state's authoritative source whether or not you credit OpenCorporates at all.
- And the bar you're applying isn't the one in the policy. Criterion 2 asks whether an entity "can be described using serious and publicly available references" — not whether it has secondary coverage, and not whether a source is theoretically immune to manipulation. State and national company registers routinely satisfy Criterion 2 on their own across Wikidata's corporate items, and the project maintains external-identifier properties for exactly these registers. A "coverage" or "immune from manipulation" requirement is the en.wiki GNG standard, which WD:N is explicitly distinct from and set lower than.
- Nominating a registry-backed legal entity on that reading misapplies the criterion. RfD can decide, but the government-registry point should be weighed on its own terms, not dismissed as a user-created identifier. Erateconnect (talk) 21:42, 12 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from Ridvansadikoglu (00:52, 13 July 2026)
[edit]Hello IntensionalLogician,
Thank you for being assigned as my mentor.
I have now completed my work: I created an author item for myself (Q140460522) and 35 book items for my published works. Each book has: instance of (literary work), author (P50), language (P407), Google Books ID (P675), and page count (P1104).
Regarding your earlier notability notice — I have added independent sources (P973) to my author item: a full interview in Akasyam Haber, a news report in Kars Manşet, and official Turkish Ministry of Education school records documenting author-student events. I have also disclosed my conflict of interest openly.
Two questions: 1. Is my author item and are my book items now sufficiently sourced to meet WD:N? 2. I received a constraint warning: P675 (Google Books ID) conflicts with P31 = Q7725634 (literary work). Should I change the instance of value, or is this acceptable?
Thank you for your guidance. --Ridvansadikoglu (talk) 00:52, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Ridvansadikoglu, while I'm not qualified to analyze the Turkish sources, at a glace the sources for yourself look good. Please also use these sources to add references to statements on the item. I should also note that typically for notability of authors Wikidata users like to see the author has a VIAF / is indexed in a national library catalog. Book items should be formatted according to the ontology at Wikidata:WikiProject Books using the FRBR model, hence the warning. But before doing this, please note the book items must also meet the notability criteria themselves. IntensionalLogician (talk) 15:53, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
Question from Jessica Lohmann (06:58, 13 July 2026)
[edit]Hi, thank you for the welcome and the pointers on my talk page. I created the two items about me and my business (Q140471108, Q140471174) before I properly understood the notability policy, my mistake. I've since added independent published sources to both items and posted a conflict-of-interest disclosure on my user page. Can you please take another look and let me know whether these sources are sufficient, or what would be? I want to learn to do this properly. Thank you for your time. --Jessica Lohmann (talk) 06:58, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
Question from Jessica Lohmann (12:05, 13 July 2026)
[edit]Both items were deleted after I added sources. What kind of coverage would meet the bar, so I know for the future?
One piece of feedback from a newcomer: I found the editing interface and the notability guidance hard to follow. It's not clear what kind of sources would count until after my items were nominated. If there's a better starting guide for people like me, I'd have gladly used it. --Jessica Lohmann (talk) 12:05, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Jessica, since the items were deleted I can no longer see what sources you added. The exact wording for notability criteria 2, being described by "serious and publicly available references," is left deliberately vague, but in practice this typically is taken as non-trivial coverage in a major newspaper, magazine, or book. IntensionalLogician (talk) 15:58, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, that's a clear answer. I'll revisit once that level of coverage exists. I added 25 links to either podcast interviews, articles written about my work or my book, as well as an award nomination page from LUSH for my book but apparently these sources aren't big enough. Thanks again for your help. Jessica Lohmann (talk) 05:50, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
- Are you any of these Jessica Lohmanns? IntensionalLogician (talk) 17:06, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
- No, that's not me. Thank you for asking. If it helps, I added the sources on this page plus a few more that are just about my book, but not the articles I wrote as a contributor listed at the end. Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it. Jessica Lohmann (talk) 08:33, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

National Library of Turkey catalog records
[edit]Hi IntensionalLogician,
Thank you for the guidance on library catalog indexing.
I checked VIAF and found no record under my name. However, my works are indexed in the National Library of Turkey (Millî Kütüphane) catalog at kasif.mkutup.gov.tr — Turkey's national legal deposit library.
There are 18 catalog records covering 11 distinct works (several titles appear multiple times as separate print editions):
- Diriliş
- Geceye Bir Güneş Çizdim
- Galiba Yanlış Anladık
- İnsan İnsana Emanettir
- Yürek Ülkesi
- Ademlikten Adamlığa
- Kerb-ü Belâ (3 volumes)
- Hz. Havva'dan Günümüze Kadın (2 volumes)
I have added the corresponding National Library catalog URLs as P973 references to each of these book items and to my author item (Q140460522).
Since the National Library of Turkey is one of the sources VIAF draws from, I believe the absence of a VIAF record reflects a lag in data transfer rather than an absence of library indexing.
Two questions:
1. Does national library catalog indexing satisfy the notability expectation you mentioned, given the absence of a VIAF record?
2. For the book items that are not in the catalog (digital-only works), would you recommend that I nominate them for deletion myself rather than leaving them to be challenged?
Thank you again for your patience with a new editor. Ridvansadikoglu (talk) 20:07, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
- Note that National Library of Turkey is not one of the sources VIAF draws from currently. Despite this, being indexed in The National Library of Turkey is probably a good indicator of notability. It seems like we currently do not have a dedicated property for items indexed by The National Library of Turkey due to potentially unstable identifiers. To answer question 1, I personally feel like this would satisfy the notability requirements, but other uses may feel differently, I would consider asking the community at WD:PC about this, including question 2. Question from Gaetano Rizza (16:50, 15 July 2026)
[edit]Hello,
I am Gaetano Rizza, professionally known as Tano Rizza or dr_ Tano Rizza.
Before creating a Wikidata item about myself, I would like to request an independent assessment, as I am aware of my conflict of interest.
I am an Italian author and digital communication consultant based in Syracuse, Sicily.
I have published three works with ISBN records:
• Lo snodo della rete — ISBN 978-88-6711-033-9 • Comunicazioni sonore — ISBN 978-88-6711-013-1 • L’intelligenza collettiva di Pierre Lévy — ISBN 978-88-6711-031-5
There are also public sources concerning my journalistic, professional, teaching and association activities.
For identification purposes, my official website is:
I understand that my official website is a primary source and should not be considered sufficient evidence of notability.
Could you please advise whether the bibliographic records and the available independent sources are sufficient for the creation of a Wikidata item?
I will not create the item until I receive guidance from an experienced editor.
Thank you. --Gaetano Rizza (talk) 16:50, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hello Gaetano, thanks for reaching out and your commitment to the notability policy. Typically for authors to be considered notable enough for a WikiData item, we would expect them to have a VIAF and be indexed in a country's national library authority. From a quick search of both your name and your professional name, I was not able to find a VIAF record for you. Due to this I would advise against creating any items about yourself and your work until you either have press coverage meeting the "serious and publicly available references" criteria or are indexed by a national library. IntensionalLogician (talk) 17:02, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
Undeletion request: Q140432038 (CIVIS Venezuela)
[edit]Hello. I'm requesting undeletion of Q140432038 (CIVIS Venezuela), which you tagged for deletion on 12 July 2026 for unclear notability. Since then, CIVIS has received coverage in an independent publication: Rest of World, "AI powers citizen-led disaster relief from afar for Venezuela" (15 July 2026, https://restofworld.org/2026/venezuela-ai-citizen-disaster-response/), which names and describes CIVIS and its founder. CIVIS is also referenced in the Wikipedia article "Terremotos de Venezuela de 2026". I believe it now meets notability criterion 3 (identifiers + serious independent sources). If restored, I'll add this source to the item. Disclosure: I'm a co-founder of CIVIS and declare my conflict of interest. Thank you. Arturonieve (talk) 19:04, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for reaching out. At a glance the article appears to be a non-trivial coverage and a non-paid placement so it is possible the item now meets the notability policy. Please read the Guide to requests for undeletion and follow the procedure described within to request undeletion. IntensionalLogician (talk) 19:46, 15 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from Nekoyama123 (19:44, 23 July 2026)
[edit]Hi, thanks for the welcome. I'd like to ask for guidance before I make a specific edit.
I'm an artist. Over the next few weeks I plan to create an item about myself and about a series of works I've made since 2015, which has been exhibited at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (Q6349943) and Knihovna Jiřího Mahena (Q12029621). I've disclosed the conflict of interest on my user page.
I have third-party references — the festival's official programme PDF and the library's own announcement of the exhibition. Would you be willing to look at whether these meet WD:N before I create anything? I'd rather ask first than have an item nominated for deletion. --Nekoyama123 (talk) 19:44, 23 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hello Nekoyama123. Thanks for reaching out and your commitment to our notability policy. Can you provide some links of the references to me regarding your work and describe to me the selectivity of exhibiting at the event? The enwiki article does not make it clear. Currently, without more info, I would say the presentation at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (Q6349943) and Knihovna Jiřího Mahena (Q12029621) lend weak structural credibility to your items, but I would be worried about the lack of identifiers and the references, most editors would probably not consider an official programme and announcement as "serious and publicly available references," and may consider these "trivial mentions." You should also consider reading How to create an item on Wikidata so that it won't get deleted. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 20:22, 23 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you — that's exactly the reality check I was hoping for, and I appreciate you being direct rather than encouraging.
- References
- Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2026, official programme published by the Kala Ghoda Association: https://kalaghodaassociation.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/KGAF2026_08-FEB_Programme-E-Booklet.pdf — Visual Arts section, listing the work "Curry/Verse: A Palindromic Data Installation".
- Knihovna Jiřího Mahena (Q12029621) — the library's own public announcement of the exhibition on its official account, describing it as the first exhibition in the Czech Republic by this artist. The exhibition ran 28 Jan – 1 Feb 2025.
- On selectivity
- KGAF 2026 was a two-stage process: a written/portfolio submission that was screened, followed by an online interview with the curatorial team. I was selected through that process rather than by open registration.
- The Brno exhibition was different and I should be plain about it: it was a curatorial invitation from the library, but the introduction came through a personal contact of mine. I don't think it demonstrates independent selection in the way the KGAF process does.
- Where I think that leaves things
- I take your point that a programme listing and an institutional announcement are likely to read as trivial mentions rather than substantial independent coverage. I also have no authority-file identifiers at all — no VIAF, ISNI or NDL entry.
- Two questions, if you have the patience:
- I have a self-published book of the work that I can deposit with the National Diet Library in Japan, which may in time produce an author authority record and a VIAF identifier. Would that change your assessment materially, or is coverage the binding constraint regardless?
- Is there a rough threshold of independent coverage — a press review, a catalogue essay, an academic mention — that you would consider sufficient?
- I'm in no hurry. I would rather wait a year or two and create something that clearly belongs than create it now and defend it. Thanks for the Bovlb essay; I've read it and it changed how I was thinking about this.
- --Nekoyama123 (talk) 17:24, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
- A VIAF would certainly help lend credibility. The press coverage requirement is pretty fluid but typically any non-paid article about your work can be used to argue notability, people typically like to see at least a few of them. If I were you, I would reach out to people at Wikidata:WikiProject_Arts or a related project for your specific form of art to try and get a feel for what they like to see for notability. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 03:44, 25 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from NovikovaDaria (10:41, 26 July 2026)
[edit]Hi! Thank you for being available as a mentor. I have just created my first item, Q140699325 (WeTrio Agency), for the design agency I co-founded. I have disclosed my affiliation on my user page and added only verifiable facts with references. Would you mind taking a quick look to check whether everything is structured correctly? I want to make sure I am following best practices from the start. Thank you! --NovikovaDaria (talk) 10:41, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for reaching out. Your COI disclosure looks good, but your item does not meet the notability criteria and is likely to be deleted soon unless it is improved. I recommend reading the essay How to create an item on Wikidata so that it won't get deleted. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 13:44, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
Question from NovikovaDaria (14:01, 26 July 2026)
[edit]Thank you for the honest assessment, that is exactly why I asked. I understand the current references are self-published. Two questions so I learn the standard correctly: would independent external identifiers (for example a Crunchbase organization ID) improve the item's standing under N2, or does it specifically need independent editorial coverage? And if the item is deleted for now, is it acceptable to recreate it later once such coverage exists? I would rather follow best practice than argue. Thank you for your time. --NovikovaDaria (talk) 14:01, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
- IDs would certainly improve the item, and while interpretation of N2 is fuzzy, most users believe the item also needs independent editorial coverage for N2. It is not acceptable to recreate the item yourself if it is deleted, instead you need to follow the undeletion process here. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 21:33, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
Question from Gilles.B71 (15:47, 26 July 2026)
[edit]Bonjour, Hello,
Thank you for your welcome message as a mentor. I would appreciate some advice on an ongoing matter: I requested undeletion of an item that had been deleted for lack of notability (Q140617642), providing two independent press sources. The administrator handling the request (WikiBayer) said these sources were "not reputable enough," without further explanation despite my follow-up question, and I haven't heard back since July 22.
Here is the full discussion thread: [1]
Would you have any advice on how to move this forward (following up, rephrasing my request, or reaching out to someone else)?
Thank you very much for your help.
Gilles --Gilles.B71 (talk) 15:47, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
- The deleting admin's decision on an request for undeletion is typically binding, but in this case the discussion appears to be ongoing. The admin does not appear convinced by your sources, frankly neither am I. Esprit d'Ici dos not appear to be notable enough for a WikiData item, and neither is L'art des Jardins. Typically when appealing that your item is notable, you should provide sources that are also clearly notable to lend credibility, since the interpretation of what counts as "serious sources" is given to the deleting admin. IntensionalLogician (talk) 21:30, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you both for the clarification — that helps me understand the bar better.
- Could you give me an example of the kind of source that would typically be considered notable enough in a case like this? For instance, would regional daily press (e.g. a French presse quotidienne régionale title) be sufficient, or does it need to be national press specifically? I'd rather understand the actual threshold than guess, in case I do find additional coverage in the future.
- I understand if the item isn't a good fit for Wikidata for now — just want to make sure I understand the criteria correctly for any future attempt. Gilles.B71 (talk) 08:42, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- The language for N2 is deliberately vague: "serious and publicly available references". Different users have different interpretations of this, so there is no concrete policy for me to give you. A good rule of thumb is that the more notable it is the easier it is to argue for, national news outlets and books indexed by a national library are questioned less than regional publications, which are questioned less than trade publications, which are questioned less than random online publications and websites. Personally, I would feel non-trivial and non-paid placement coverage in a local established publication would be fine for establishing notability. IntensionalLogician (talk) 12:48, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for the concrete guidance, that's very helpful.
- To be clear: both articles were independent editorial coverage, not paid placements or advertorials. Neither magazine received any payment or free stay in exchange for the coverage — it was standard editorial content following an unsolicited visit by their journalists. Esprit d'Ici is an established French regional magazine (4-page feature, issue n° 84), and L'Art des Jardins is a specialized but established French gardening magazine (issue n° 53).
- @WikiBayer, given this clarification, would these two articles now meet the threshold for notability? Happy to provide any further detail if useful. Gilles.B71 (talk) 13:58, 27 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from Raghavisprozo (07:40, 28 July 2026)
[edit]hello this is raghav and i wanted to post about my company prozo on wiki data aswell as wikipedia and my previous draft got rejected and also when i try adding refrences the pop up box does not show to add the reference url --Raghavisprozo (talk) 07:40, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- You need to type "reference URL" in the property field after hitting the "+add reference" button. But please do not create items that don't meet the notability policy as they will be deleted, only create the item if you have serious and publicly available references and external IDs for it. You should read the essay How to create an item on Wikidata so that it won't get deleted. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 13:09, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
Hi, I’m new here and could use some guidance. Two items I created on 7 July, a website I run and its parent company, were deleted at RfD under WD:SELF. I’ve read the notability policy and WD:SELF properly since, and I get it now: a Companies House listing and my own website aren’t independent coverage, and I shouldn’t have created them myself given my conflict of interest. Two questions. If genuinely independent coverage appears later, is requesting undeletion the right route, or is it better to leave it entirely to an unconnected editor? And is there a maintenance backlog I could usefully help with in the meantime, on something unrelated to my own business? --Grinidx (talk) 09:41, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for reaching out. While WD:SELF is discouraged, it isn't against the rules and isn't a reason for deletion, more likely your item was deleted for WD:N with WD:SELF as a contributing factor. If the item gains enough independent coverage that WD:N is met, you should petition to have it undeleted by following the guide at WD:GRU. In terms of maintenance, there is always stuff to do, such as reviewing if items others create are appropriate, matching items in mix-n-match, or merging duplicate items, all help contribute to building a better knowledge-base. Question from Packandsmooch (11:14, 30 July 2026)
[edit]Question about deleted item Q140462501 (Pack & Smooch GmbH)
[edit]Hi,
I created an item about Pack & Smooch GmbH (Q140462501), and it was deleted as not notable. I have a connection to the company, so I do not want to recreate it myself or do promotional editing.
I previously posted an undeletion request at the Administrators' noticeboard with independent sources, but it seems to have been archived without a response.
Could you advise me what the proper next step is? Should I post a short follow-up at the Administrators' noticeboard, contact the deleting admin, request undeletion somewhere else, or just leave the item deleted?
Some independent sources I found are Macwelt, Mac Life, Cult of Mac and Northdata:

- https://www.northdata.de/Pack+%26+Smooch+GmbH,+Hamburg/HRB+120161
I would like to handle this correctly and avoid any COI or self-promotion issues.
Thanks! Packandsmooch (talk) 11:14, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- You can consider reaching out to the deleting admin on their talk page or relisting the request. COI is discouraged but shouldn't be an issue as long as the item meets the notability policy, I unfortunately don't know enough about German language sources to comment on if these would be sufficient, you may consider reaching out to a German admin for feedback: Wikidata:Administrators by language. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 03:24, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

Question from Stephaniabeata12 (12:44, 3 August 2026)
[edit]Hi,
I am considering creating a Wikidata item for a German lawyer, but I am unsure whether the available references are sufficient to meet Wikidata’s notability requirements.
The person has been mentioned in several independent sources and media reports. I would prefer not to post all external links directly on the Wikidata talk page, as I do not want to create unnecessary link clutter or appear to be spamming.
Could you please advise me on how I can reliably assess whether the person meets the criteria for a Wikidata item? I would appreciate your guidance on whether the available references are likely sufficient and how best to evaluate them.
Thank you very much! --Stephaniabeata12 (talk) 12:44, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for reaching out and your commitment to the notability policy. Feel free to post the 3 links you consider to be from the most reputable independent sources and I'll take a look. IntensionalLogician (talk) 17:51, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, I’m now providing three of my links (1, 2, 3) for review. Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to look into this and for your effort in checking whether they are sufficient. I really appreciate your help! Stephaniabeata12 (talk) 16:01, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, have you had a chance to take a look at the links yet? Many thanks in advance. Stephaniabeata12 (talk) 12:49, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry for the slow response. I don't know enough about these sources to faithfully evaluate their quality. I would suggest opening a thread on the new requests for items page for more opinions. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 02:39, 21 August 2026 (UTC)
Question from Broadcastwell (03:27, 4 August 2026)
[edit]Hi, I run a small B2B research and consulting firm. We've published two open-access studies with DOIs on Zenodo, and one independent third party cites them. Does that meet Wikidata notability for a company item, or should I wait for more independent coverage? I want to disclose upfront that this is my own company. --Broadcastwell (talk) 03:27, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- Wait for more independent coverage, Zenodo is not looked upon favorably here, items that rely on Zenodo typically get deleted. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 03:30, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
hi, how do I create a page for Isra Chaker? --Izzymy (talk) 20:22, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- First ensure they meet the notability policy, typically this requires independent coverage in sources like books or magazines, which will need to be linked once the item is created. Once this is established, you can use the "Create New Item" link in the right menu. IntensionalLogician (talk) 20:52, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ah I see you recently tried to create an empty item, make sure you add statements to the item, I recommend reading the tutorial. IntensionalLogician (talk) 20:54, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
Undeletion request: Q140756857 and Q140757484
[edit]You nominated both items at RfD on 30 July and they were deleted on 1 August. I replied to your talk page message the same day with the notability rationale, but I did not realise a deletion request was already open, so that reply never reached the RfD discussion. I would like to set it out here.
On WD:N criterion 2, the company item had five external identifiers (Spanish tax ID, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, Instagram, YouTube) and referenced statements sourced to independent trade press, including two articles in cosmeticsdesign-europe.com and cosmeticsdesign.com. The person item was sourced to those same two independent articles via P973, added on 30 July, before the deletion was carried out.
On criterion 3, Provital France Sas (Q132074754) was created by another editor in February 2025 and is a subsidiary of the deleted company item, which was the value of its parent organization statement.
I have a paid contribution disclosure on my user page. I am not going to recreate either item. If you still consider them non-notable, I would appreciate knowing what would be needed, so I can either provide it or drop the matter. PaulinaOrtiz26 (talk) 13:12, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Typically for WD:N 2 identifiers like "Spanish tax ID, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, Instagram, YouTube" are not taken to imply notability because they are self-assigned, anyone can create them for themselves with a bit a of effort. Regarding the articles for WD:N 2, the standard I typically apply (note this is not policy, rather my heuristic) is that they are published by an independent source that meets WD:N itself (i.e. the publisher has a WikiData item), neither of the provided sites seem to meet this. Regarding criteria 3, at least one item in the sub-graph must be notable by either #1 or #2, otherwise it would be very easy to create "walled gardens" in which non-notable items give each other notability by virtue of their links to each other, i.e your item and the subsidiary. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 21:06, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Also, if you feel I'm wrong, and want to request undeletion anyway, please follow the process outlined at WD:GRU. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 21:08, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the detailed reply — that is helpful, and I take
- your point on both the self-assigned identifiers and the
- walled garden problem. The subsidiary link does not establish
- notability on its own; I was wrong there.
- One correction on the sources, though. CosmeticsDesign is not
- a publisher in its own right — it is a title of William Reed
- Business Media (Q8017437), which has both a Wikidata item and
- an English Wikipedia article, and has published continuously
- since 1862. It acquired the CosmeticsDesign sites in 2009. By
- your own heuristic, the publisher does meet WD:N.
- If a trade title under a notable publisher still falls short
- of what you would want to see, I understand, and I will leave
- it there rather than take it to WD:GRU. PaulinaOrtiz26 (talk) 09:44, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! Thank you for the guidance regarding the notability criteria.
I am Tunahan Haksever, an actively producing author, poet, and a Turkish Language and Literature student at Karadeniz Teknik University. I have updated the item and added reliable independent sources, official ISBN book records (such as "Mâsivâ Yolculuğu" and "Ekinoksu Beklemek"), and verified references from literary journals.
As my creative work and literary footprint continue to grow, these sources establish clear notability. I would appreciate your feedback to ensure the page fully complies with Wikidata standards. Best regards! --Tunahan Haksever (talk) 21:33, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

- Links 1 and 3 are self created profiles and do not count towards establishing WD:N. Links 2 and 4 are not clearly from an independent source (no author on the article). IntensionalLogician (talk) 22:30, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
To clarify: Link 2 (on Haber Edebiyat) explicitly features an independent reviewer/author (Ufuk Putkıran), making it a third-party literary critique. Furthermore, platforms like Kitapyurdu are official book distribution and retail databases verifying published ISBN titles through formal publishers, rather than mere user-generated social profiles. Notability references updated (Q140935273 / Q140935079)
[edit]Hi @IntensionalLogician. Thank you for the notice and the guidance on how to structure and improve these items.
I have updated the statements to fully comply with Wikidata's notability guidelines:
- The creator profile has been updated to the developer item SilenDev (Q140935273), which is now correctly categorized and backed by corporate identifiers and references from IGDB, Itch.io, and Game Jolt.
- The game item The Silence: The Forest (Q140935079) is now fully referenced with industry database sources (IGDB), official distribution platform links, and independent international press coverage (Kotaku).
Thank you for your time reviewing this. Best regards! -- SilenDev (talk) 02:43, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
- Because these are recreations of deleted items, updating them is not enough, you must follow the undeletiion process described at WD:GRU. IntensionalLogician (talk) 14:21, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing me to WD:GRU. I have officially opened a formal request at the Requests for Undeletion board to ensure the process is fully respected with the updated structural data. I appreciate your guidance. SilenDev (talk) 15:21, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for your guidance!" --Winepairing.online (talk) 20:31, 20 August 2026 (UTC)
- Press releases typically do not count as coverage because they are not "independent." Personally I don't think this would meet the notability policy and would be at risk of deletion. Since you have a COI with this item, I would suggest getting more opinions at the requests for new items page. -- IntensionalLogician (talk) 02:36, 21 August 2026 (UTC)

Hi there IntensionalLogician. I realsie it's inappropriate to enter one's own professional profile into Wikidata, but is there anyway of requesting that it be done, or vlidating that it would be an appropriate request? Here is some context and citations: Sam Doust is an Australian creative director, writer, and interactive experience designer. He is best known for his foundational role in public digital media broadcasting in Australia notably conceiving, designing, and co-producing the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's video-on-demand service, ABC iview, and broadnand editions of ABC Four Corners. Doust served as the Creative Director of Strategic Development for ABC Innovation, where he spent several years architecting public service new media initiatives. Following his tenure at the broadcaster, he has worked across the physical and digital arts sectors, specializing in large-scale cultural exhibitions and immersive tech-driven heritage installations. Since 2021, he has served as a Group Creative Director at the experiential design agency Art Processors.
