Creating properties
[edit]Hi!
It seems that you have tried to create a property "character animator" at Q64221184. In Wikidata we have a distinction between items and properties, and what you created is an item, so you will not be able to use it as a property as you probably expected. To get this created as a property, you need to propose it: see Wikidata:Property proposal. If you need any help with that process, let me know.
Keep up the good work! − Pintoch (talk) 13:02, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Pintoch: Yeah, I already noticed. I also noticed that I'm not in the user group who are allowed to create new properties.
- Thanks for the link though that will make my life easier. I will try to care about that this week.

- @D-Kuru: great! In the meantime I will delete this item then. − Pintoch (talk) 09:31, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

[edit]- As far as I understand Help:Basic membership properties
- USS Nimitz (Q463161) "is an individual", "is a specific example", is a concrete example, is an instance (P31), of aircraft carrier (Q17205) and Nimitz-class aircraft carrier (Q309336), which are classes;
- Wilberforce (Q1759652) is an instance (P31) of cat (Q146), which is a class;
- therefore an actual AMD Phenom II X6 1090T in a computer is a concrete example and instance of (P31) of AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (Q66481199), which is a class. Feel free to ask for advice to other contributors, such in Wikidata talk:WikiProject Informatics, Help talk:Basic membership properties or Wikidata:Project chat. Re:P7861
[edit]Hi. You should add the item of the category. I noticed that these categories aren't linked to an item, so you have to create them. E.g. Category:Software licensing (Q7020956). --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 20:01, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Tinker Bell: Looks like it works like category for pictures taken with this camera (P2033). Maybe a bit late to request that, but can it work like Commons category (P373) where the links brings you right to the category on Commons? --D-Kuru (talk) 20:05, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- You should check this thread for delete P373. Also, it isn't good store the links as external identifiers, because we can't refer them from other properties rightly. --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 21:12, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- As far I know, there's a bot that populates labels and descriptions in many languages, so you can leave these fields empty. --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 19:35, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- I've created some categories for the property. You can see them with this query. --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 20:08, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

Hyper-precise coordinates
[edit]Thank you for adding coordinates to 2025 Graz school shooting (Q134821352). Unfortunately, you entered them with five digits of precision past the decimal point, or down to the millimetre (Q174789). Please note that the coordinates posted on Wikidata are sometimes shown on Wikipedia, whose Project:Manual of Style (Q4994848) requires rounding, lest they create false precision (Q3467464). In almost all cases, rounding to the arcsecond (Q829073) (or 1/10 of an arcsecond for smaller objects) is the best practice. Thanks, Abductive (talk) 11:27, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Abductive: Thanks for the note. I just copy the coordinates from Google. I have no idea how many digits said 'arcsecond' would be. On the other side, if a tool can't handle such numbers, the tool should be improved IMHO --D-Kuru (talk) 11:30, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

In German, a comma is used instead of a period as the decimal separator.
[edit]Hi @D-Kuru you have edit the item Q136517483 'Canon RF 45mm F1.2 STM' and removed the german label 'Canon RF 45mm F1,2 STM'. In german language, a comma is used instead of a period as the decimal separator. So the difference at the label was there on purpose. Please leave it in the future there. It is needed for the lema RF-Bajonett at the german wikipedia - the table there is generated via template and uses information from WD. Thanks GodeNehler (talk) 20:24, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
- --D-Kuru (talk) 20:58, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
