Property needs revision
[edit]The source URL https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/ no longer works. The articles are now referred to as entries, and the current source URL is https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook. The formatter is no longer correct either. Some of the existing links do resolve correctly, but the correct URL now is https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/$1 I am not sure if all identifiers for articles are the same as they are now for entries. Further investigation and revision of this property is needed. I tried to add the identifier bowl (https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/bowl) to John Bowles (Q7719549) but it doesn't resolve with the old formatter URL. - @EvanCarroll: I see you added Wikidata usage instructions in 2025. Can you help with @Aschiff-emco:'s post above?
- I came here because I was unable to add a Handbook of Texas ID for Hugo Victor Neuhaus (Q124865400). TSventon (talk) 18:28, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- The url in question is https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/bowl.
- The TID for bowl (the page titled "Chief Bowl: The Cherokee Leader of Texas") is fbo47.
- The article link for it works just fine https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fbo47
- I don't understand the question. Sure, you're generating a page that has `/articles/` in the url from a page that has `/entries/` in the url, but that's just because the TID->Webpage resolver is in the `/articles/` path.
- Where is the problem here? EvanCarroll (talk) 15:56, 20 May 2026 (UTC)
- I really don't get this issue at all. But I've updated https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7719549 following the usage notes. I don't understand why a revision is needed. Seems to work fine. Help me understand the confusion. EvanCarroll (talk) 16:01, 20 May 2026 (UTC)
Hugo Victor Neuhaus
[edit]@EvanCarroll: I will split out my problem as it may be different. I found the url https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/neuhaus-hugo-victor-jr for Hugo Victor Neuhaus (Q124865400), but I was unable to add a Handbook of Texas ID. The instruction says "View source", but I don't know how to do that. Am I missing something obvious, or could the instructions be made clearer? TSventon (talk) 17:21, 20 May 2026 (UTC)
- I have now worked out how to view source (by adding "view-source:" before the url) and successfully added the Handbook of Texas ID. TSventon (talk) 12:30, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, knowing how to view the source of a website is a bit beyond the typical level of detail we put into the instructions because different browsers do it different ways. For example, if using Chrome, the easy way is just to right click anywhere on the page and go "View page source". Most browsers probably offer that option for sites that don't override the right-click behavior. EvanCarroll (talk) 06:31, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
