Experience  

Katie was appointed Chief Executive, Copper in September 2024.  

Katie brings 30 years of international energy experience across engineering, operations, infrastructure and strategy. She began her career as a drilling engineer at Shell, and subsequently held senior roles at UBS, Anadarko and Equinor, including leading Development and Production operations across Europe and Asia. At BG Group and Shell, she held global leadership roles spanning strategy, commercial, business development, acquisitions and divestments. Most recently, as President of National Grid Ventures, she led the development and operation of large-scale energy infrastructure, including cross-border regulatory and project delivery. 

Katie is focused on delivering safe, reliable, and competitive operations across Rio Tinto’s Copper portfolio, while progressing major projects and driving profitable growth.
