The open-source YSERVER project as a modern X11 sever written in the Rust programming language with the help of Claude Code is out today with a new feature release. Most notable for this AI Rust X11 server is X Display Manager Control Protocol (XDMCP) support for multi-user shared desktops.

Stemming from a feature request of XDMCP support for multi-user HPC shared desktop environments where users can remotely log-in to a shared desktop environment from the display manager, YSERVER 1.6 has introduced this functionality. YSERVER merged the support to allow logging into a YSERVER display from another machine via the display manager, similar to the thin client support with the conventional X.Org Server. This includes XDMCP handling, TCP transport, and server reset abilities. IPv6 is not yet supported and GLX-over-TCP is also not supported.

YSERVER 1.6 is treating the optional XDMCO support and TCP listener functionality as disabled-by-default build features for now. The new release also brings a number of different bug fixes too.
