GDB 18.1 is out today as the newest version of the GNU Debugger that works across C/C++, Fortran, Rust, and other languages like Go, Ada, and more.

Microsoft Windows is seeing a lot of love with the GDB 18.1 debugger release. GDB on Windows now has support for native Thread Local Storage (TLS) variables, the non-stop mode is supported on Windows 10 and later, scheduler locking now works, improved support for the Windows Terminal console, and other changes. On the user experience side, filenames are now consistently shown with forward slashes on Windows rather than a mix of backwards and forwards slashes. GDB 18.1 also added an AArch64 MinGW target.

GDB 18.1 also improves the handling of inferior arguments, support for the Floating Point Mode Register (FPMR) on AArch64, and support for new commands like "save history", "set/show/unset local-environment", "info proc environ" and others.

GDB's Python API has also continue to be improved as well as the debuggger's GAP protocol support.
