  • Agents don’t work like traditional apps. They can use tools, write code, access files and act across systems, requiring a security model built for how agents actually operate. Windows is the most secure platform for agents, and Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) are now generally available on Windows 11. MXC enables organizations to define which files and networks agents can access, with those policies enforced at runtime. Its deep integration with Windows also provides a range of containment options, from process and session isolation to WSLc, virtual machines and Windows 365 for Agents. The next era of the PC is taking shape on Windows. We’re building Windows as the home for hybrid intelligence: a platform where agents can run locally when it makes sense, reach the cloud when they need to, and operate with the security and manageability organizations expect. Today, we’re bringing that vision to life across the Windows platform: 🔐 Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) are now generally available on Windows 11, advancing Windows as the most secure platform for agents. 🧠 Frontier coding intelligence is running locally, including MAI Code 1.1 Flash, NVIDIA Nemotron Bolt 74B and Deepseek v4 Pro Flash on RTX Spark. ✨ GitHub Copilot HydraFusion is bringing intelligent routing to Windows, enabling it to tap into models running locally on device. 💻 llama.cpp support is coming to Windows ML, giving developers more open-source model choices and the ability to experiment quickly with emerging models. ⚡ Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box are available for preorder today, bringing powerful local AI compute to creators, developers and AI builders. 🖥️ A broader ecosystem of Builder PCs powered by NVIDIA RTX Spark is also available for preorder, with new devices from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and MSI. • Your development environment is personal. The agents you use should be, too. Intelligent Terminal is designed to let you run any ACP-compatible agent CLI, with GitHub Copilot CLI by default and auto-detection for Claude, Codex, and Gemini. You can also customize the agent pane alongside your terminal experience, while keeping agents grounded in the context of your current development workflow. Pankaj Bhojwani and Hamza Usmani walk through how to make Intelligent Terminal work for the way you build. See more: https://lnkd.in/eceF8gDH

  • WSL containers is now generally available 🎉 Craig A. Loewen walks us through how developers can build, push, pull and interact with Linux containers directly on Windows using the WSL container CLI. You can also integrate Linux container experiences into Windows apps and manage them across your enterprise with Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. Run wsl --update to get started, and learn more: https://lnkd.in/gGCQVaBC

  • More control, app by app. Starting today, Windows Insiders in the Experimental channel can review and manage camera, microphone and location access for individual desktop apps. This update gives you a clearer view of which apps have requested access while preserving your existing permission choices. Find the new controls under Settings > Privacy & security and share your feedback through Feedback Hub. Learn more: https://msft.it/6045a9lyL

  • What if more of your Windows app development lifecycle could happen from one CLI? ⚡ WinApp CLI is designed to simplify the native app lifecycle by bringing SDK setup, manifests, certificates, package identity, and MSIX packaging into a unified command-line experience. In this deep dive, Nikola Metulev walks through how WinApp CLI helps streamline the steps between getting started and shipping a native Windows app, across different toolchains and workflows. One CLI for the whole app lifecycle. See it in action: https://lnkd.in/gSBrGg8g
