Ivan Chepurnyi shared thisBack in late 2006, a small team of us in Ukraine started writing code alongside startup founders in Los Angeles. By 2007, we opened our first official Kyiv office. At the time, the web ran mostly on osCommerce, and we set out to build something that would change the industry forever. As one of the original core developers, watching that spark turn into a worldwide e-commerce revolution has been one of the proudest journeys of my career. Nearly two decades later, that same passion and resilience are alive and well. The Ukrainian tech community is coming together once again to inspire, innovate, and push boundaries. Meet Magento Ukraine is back, and the community's energy is reinvigorated like never before. AI has added fresh fuel and reduced barriers to building the store where you own all your data, so having its own track this year is a great move. Whether you’ve been in the ecosystem since the early Mage::app() days or are building the future of modern e-commerce today, this is where you need to be: https://lnkd.in/diV9zEUt #MM26UA

Ivan Chepurnyi reposted thisIvan Chepurnyi reposted thisIvan Chepurnyi, a Magento Performance Expert at EcomDev B.V. is on the technical track at MM26UK to talk about performance at scale. Session: 400 Domains, 1 Magento, 200 EUR/month. This session is exactly what the title says, running 400 domains on a single Magento instance at 200 EUR a month. The kind of talk that makes people in the room reconsider everything they thought they knew about Magento at scale. Technical track. 7th July. The Mermaid, London. Secure your spot. Ivan Chepurnyi reposted thisIvan Chepurnyi reposted thisNine editions of Meet Magento UK. This is the strongest speaker lineup we've put together, and I'm excited to watch these excellent talks. Here are six sessions I'd book a ticket for even if I wasn't the one running this. Matthew Lawson – Lessons from transformation at Ribble Cycles. One of the most interesting digitally-native brands at real scale. Retailer voice, no pitch, honest about what the hard parts were. Scott Gould – "Engines of Engagement." Twenty years of studying the conditions that turn a customer base into something that defends a brand. Not the metrics. The *conditions*. If your retention is technically fine but not compounding, this is your session. Ivan Chepurnyi – "400 Domains, 1 Magento, 200 EUR / month." If that title made you want to know more, you should be in the room. Ivan is, in my opinion, the world's best Magento optimisation expert, coming to the MMUK stage, and he's going to show why in this talk. Sakinah Adebola Abdul-Ibiyeye – "When agent checkout: payments, trust and the non-human buyer." What happens when AI initiates the transaction? Most ecommerce teams haven't asked it yet. Sakinah has, and she's been in this space longer than the conversation has been mainstream. Karlijn Löwik – "How fast is fast enough?". The answer she gives is more useful – and more uncomfortable – than most performance dashboards. Luke Carthy – "Server-Side Tracking is the New Snake Oil – Here's the Truth." Luke is one of the most honest voices in ecommerce consulting, and this is one of those topics where I love to watch faces in the room as the penny drops. Two tracks. One day. 7th July. Ivan Chepurnyi reposted thisIvan Chepurnyi reposted thisI will match your donation. Ukrainians urgently needs our continuous support. Last week I returned from Kyiv, where we delivered three off-road vehicles to drone teams operating near the front. These vehicles are used to transport drones quickly and keep the teams mobile under the barrage of Russian air attacks. The soldiers were incredibly grateful. But the need remains. Suitable cars save lives, but there are not enough. When I spoke with Ukrainians, they showed real defiance. Fathers, mothers, sons, daughters have been defending their country against the invasion for years. The outcome is crucial for all of us. I believe we should do everything in our capacity to help them. The good news is that small amounts will have great impact. A proper second-hand 4x4 often costs just €4k to €5k. One vehicle can directly support an active drone unit. https://lnkd.in/dyUr4xBv Please donate today, I will personally match every contribution, so we can buy more vehicles and get them at the right units. If you own an old 4x4, or would like to help drive vehicles to Ukraine, please reach out to me? PS. Donations will be administered by Vrienden van Oekraïne / Stichting Diel, a Dutch registered charity who have been delivering aid and vetting recipients in Ukraine since the start of the war. I'm proud to join their initiative. Edwin Mermans Joris Luyendijk Krijn Schramade Viktor Zagreba

Ivan Chepurnyi shared thisSupport Open Source Magento Performance Initiative! This year, I've decided to dedicate more time to bringing much faster performance to every single store out there! My innovations in indexation techniques allow us to cut indexation times from hours to seconds for large catalogs using a pure PHP implementation. My open-source preloader module, with an optimized preloader implementation, allows category pages to load in less than 300ms of uncached TTFB. New, improved DI and Layout rendering can bring uncached TTFB down to under 100ms for category pages without complicated hosting setup, pure application changes with small opcache tweaks! Complete replacement of ElasticSearch coming later this year; going to cut it down by 50ms and deliver unparalleled performance improvements with a best-in-class search experience, enabling thousands of concurrent connections on very modest hardware. After achieving a steady level of sponsorships, all these improvements will be available not only to backers but to everyone! Ivan Chepurnyi reposted thisIvan Chepurnyi reposted thisHey Teachable, do you even care? Raising visibility here because I cannot contact support and have no way to get in touch with you. My main site (courses[.]m[.]academy) is down due to an invalid SSL cert, so I tried reaching out to your support. But your chat is saying you're on vacation until Monday, and there's no way for me to even create a support ticket for it in the system. This is very unacceptable. I rely on your services for my livelihood, and my students rely on my site to expand their careers. Please reach out to me at mark[at]m[.]academy with a resolution STAT. Ivan Chepurnyi shared thisThe talk was a blast, and it was actually refreshing to find that many people shared very similar opinions on Redis at MageTitans Groningen today! Link to my slides and GitHub sponsor page with performance perks for sponsors: https://lnkd.in/efXyM2hd https://lnkd.in/ehm3jcn8Ivan Chepurnyi shared thisHot take. Redis cache is considered harmfully. Ivan Chepurnyi is walking us by this opinion today.

Satish Mantri benefit is that website is as fast without cache as with cache, so caching is only a scaling feature not a way to sweep bad performance under the rug.

Ivan Chepurnyi liked thisIvan Chepurnyi liked thisThis may be anti-narrative given the buzz in the market. Paul Graham’s Founder Mode essay (link in comments) glorifies the relentless hands-on approach, suggesting founders must stay deeply involved in every facet of their business. I have a different POV—clinging to every detail may choke your company’s potential and prevent your team from evolving into capable decision-makers. In the early days of Magento, I was committed to ensuring the product met my vision. While I wasn’t coding, I was heavily involved in refining and guiding the direction. As we grew, it became clear that holding onto every detail was slowing us down. When I trusted my team to lead, make decisions, and solve problems creatively, everything changed. Stepping back allowed the team to thrive and the product to excel. Graham implies that only founders are invested enough to make the right decisions. But here’s the thing: founders who micromanage because they don’t trust their team are bottlenecks. Many great decisions at Magento didn’t come from me—they came from empowering our engineers and product leaders to solve problems and be creative. In many cases, I got out of the way, and it worked. Yes, founders must be hands-on early on. Their vision, passion, and deep understanding of the problem they’re solving are invaluable in shaping the direction. But if you’re still overseeing every detail years later, you’re not fostering growth—you’re bottlenecking progress and holding back your team’s ability to step up. True scale happens when you trust your team to carry the vision forward and make decisions independently. (in the photo, the empowered core development team, ~2006) Do you think founders should empower teams as the company scales, or stay hands-on?

Ivan Chepurnyi liked thisI believe one of the most valuable things we can do is share knowledge and support the younger generation. I’m excited to join the Jury Panel for the FEM Program 2.0 Final Summit by the Kateryna Biloruska Foundation. Next week, I will take part in evaluating the final projects of the FEM Online Program. This is a three month leadership journey where teenage girls develop skills in negotiation, strategic communication, and leadership. What I find especially inspiring is not just the program itself, but the mindset it builds. Seeing participants aged 15 to 17 step forward, think boldly, and present their vision for a better future is a strong reminder of why mentorship matters. I invite you to join the live broadcast and support these future leaders as they present their ideas. Date: April 18 Watch live: https://lnkd.in/e9kN8YPG Looking forward to the Summit. #FEMLeadership #WomenEmpowerment #KBF #YouthLeadership #CyprusEvents #SocialImpact
