Colorado Springs nonprofit seeking donations for warming shelter on Thanksgiving

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A Colorado Springs nonprofit is looking for donations for their warming shelter on Thanksgiving.

Hope COS has helped unhoused people in the past during winter storms. According to their social media, they also do street outreach, re-entry and sober living.

With temperatures set to drop on Thanksgiving this week, Hope COS said their warming shelter will be open to make sure anyone who needs a warm place to stay has one for the holiday.

As part of their effort, they said they will be preparing a Thanksgiving meal for their guests, in addition to providing breakfast for the day. They said they need the following items:

- Meat (i.e. turkey, ham, etc.)

- Canned yams

- Stuffing mix

- Coffee, cream, sugar

- Eggs

- Butter and syrup

- Canned orange juice

- Brown sugar

Members of the nonprofit will be monitoring comments on their social media post asking for donations. They said they coordinate drop-off with anyone who comments what they plan to donate.
