Loong Arch Linux

Loong Arch Linux, an ArchLinux distribution ported for the LoongArch architecture, strives to provide the latest stable versions of most software by following a rolling release model. It can run on machines with Loongson 3A5000/3C5000(L) processors.

The core repository has been archived on GitHub earlier this month, I don't see a related news item, did I miss anything?
-- Erus Iluvatar (talk) 10:37, 13 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
The project's README says that the package git repo is now at https://github.com/lcpu-club/loongarch-packages. -- nl6720 (talk) 11:21, 4 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I asked @Anthraxx if the project has authorization to use the Arch Linux trademark and he said no. So, things are on hold until this is properly sorted out. -- nl6720 (talk) 05:45, 5 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
So, do we just add it the list up top and close this? Kinda related: do we want to prune said list for dead projects?

AcreetionOS

AcreetionOS is an Arch-Based distribution meant for the new user. We provide an stable based by hosting our own mirror and holding packages back for approximately one week before user release. We offer a customized Calamares install, which has a few applications installed at the end for user convenience. It's quick, snappy, and exactly what the average everyday user needs. We also provide an easy-to-use user utility for making USB Sticks with the installation image for user convenience. We believe in the value of easing people into the Linux ecosystem, one step at a time.

We provide two separate images, including Cinnamon and GNOME. We have a sister project also linked on the site for their convenience, and to show our appreciation of their assistance. By offering two separate variants we target Windows, and MacOS users. These are the reasons the Cinnamon and GNOME variants exist. Cinnamon, targeted to help the Windows User. GNOME, targeted to help the MacOS user; as touchegg is included.

Status bump on this request — the project is fully active. First public release 2026 (so the *2026 marker applies), installable Cinnamon and GNOME ISOs available from the site above, and the distribution is now listed on DistroWatch. Still requesting a spot on the Active list whenever the maintenance team gets a chance. Happy to provide a SourceForge mirror link or trademark-policy documentation if that helps move it along.

The Artix Linux link points to sourceforge instead of https://artixlinux.org/

Using the official website link instead will make it easier for the users to see what Artix Linux does

The sourceforge link lists 8 years old releases making an impression that Artix is a dead project GasparVardanyan (talk) 19:50, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Actually that's the case for many distros on the list, which point to SourceForge instead to their websites. Alberto Salvia Novella (es20490446e) (talk) 21:41, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Addition of Silverarch Linux to the active distributions list

I would like to propose the addition of Silverarch Linux to the "Active" distributions list.

The project maintains a project wiki at https://silverarchlinux.miraheze.org/ and follows the required Arch-based distribution disclaimer. I am committed to the project's long-term sustainability and transparency. Thank you for your consideration.

CatOS

CatOS is an open-source, Arch-based, out-of-the-box Linux distribution designed to provide an excellent operating system user experience.

Arch is fast, stable, and secure and also allowing you to have a great experience even on older computers. However, Arch Linux is also aimed at more experienced users. As such, it is generally considered to be beyond the reach of those who need more technical expertise or persistence to use it. This is why CatOS was born, to inherit the advantages of arch while making it more user-friendly, so that you can enjoy it without complicated installation and configuration.

AstrOS

AstrOS is an immutable, secure-by-default Linux distribution built on Arch Linux and the COSMIC desktop.

It is an immutable, secure-by-default Linux distribution based on Arch Linux and the COSMIC desktop environment. It uses similar tooling as GNOME OS and KDE Linux.

What makes AstrOS special is its immutable base, which is shipped as a hashed and signed /usr image that is booted by signed uki images. This combination protects your system from outside modification.

Add Blunux to Active list

Requesting an addition to the Active list:

Blunux is an Arch-derived desktop distribution using KDE Plasma and the Calamares installer. First public release based on Arch Linux was 2026-02-08, with releases continuing since.

It maintains its own package repository, and ISOs are published with SHA256 checksums and GPG signatures.

Links:

- Blunux Website

Alphabetically it belongs between Bluestar Linux and CachyOS. The project does not maintain a SourceForge page, so the project homepage is linked instead. The name contains no Arch trademark. Blunux (talk) 21:26, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Auxo Linux

Hello,

I would like to request the addition of Auxo Linux to the "Active" section of this article.

Suggested entry:

Details:

Auxo Linux is a rolling-release distribution that provides a Calamares-based installer and a small set of its own configuration tools on top of Arch Linux.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining this list.
