Use HiLight to stay informed on your phone

You can get light-based visual cues on your Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold even when it’s face down.

Learn about HiLight

Your phone can show a subtle glow to indicate certain important activities.

• When you speak with Gemini, HiLight glows with soft visual cues to indicate when Gemini thinks and responds. This feature can help with quick and hands-free interactions with Gemini.
• For incoming calls from your favorite contacts, HiLight glows in a customizable color for each favorite contact.
  • This feature works with the Phone by Google app and WhatsApp.

Turn HiLight on or off

Important: When your phone is face down and a favorite contact calls you, HiLight will glow.

1. Open your phone's Settings app.
2. Tap System HiLight.
3. Turn Use HiLight on or off.
   • You can select HiLight for “Speaking with Gemini” and “Calls from favorites.”

Customize colors for favorite contacts

Important:

• To use HiLight, make sure to update to the latest version of the Contacts app.
• To use HiLight for your favorite contacts, set up your favorite contacts. Learn how to favorite a contact.
• If you enable flash notifications, HiLight won’t display for incoming calls.

When you turn on HiLight for calls from favorite contacts, HiLight glows with the default color for all calls from favorites. You can also customize the color of the glow for each favorite contact.

To turn on HiLight for calls:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap System HiLight.
3. Turn Calls from favorites on or off.

To choose a color for a favorite contact:

1. Open the Contacts app .
2. Select a favorite contact.
3. To show the color picker, under "Contact Settings," tap HiLight.
4. Select a preferred HiLight color for that contact.
   • To check the color, tap Preview.
5. Tap Done.

Change HiLight settings in Modes

By default, HiLight glows if modes like Flip to Shhh, Bedtime, or Do Not Disturb are enabled.

To disable HiLight in these modes:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap Modes.
   • Select the mode you want to edit.
3. Tap People Calls.
4. To turn off HiLight in this mode, tap None.
   • This also turns off ring or vibrate notifications for calls while the mode is active.
5. Turn off Allow repeat callers.
