Messier 32 (M32), also known as NGC 221, is a dwarf elliptical satellite galaxy located approximately 2.49 million light-years away in the constellation, Andromeda.
Supermassive Black Hole[]
In the center of M32 lies a black hole estimated to be around 5 million solar masses.
Possible origin[]
A widely accepted theory is that Messier 32 was once a larger spiral galaxy that got its layers stripped away from the neighboring Andromeda galaxy. The spiral galaxy is known as M32p which was hypothesized to once be the third-largest galaxy in the local group.
