Our 4 S’s

Sisterhood:     What would Phrateres be without its girls?

One of the greatest strengths of Phrateres is the diversity of its members. We come from all backgrounds, religions, and faculties.  You will always find members who share common interests.
*
An easy way to get to know us by visiting our office located in the basement of SUB, room 21G.  There you will find a couple couches, a phone, information about upcoming events, and fellow members!
*
Not only do we hang out in our office, our sisterhood chairs hold girls nights throughout the year.  Some past events include fondue night and  ‘wine and vibe’.
*
By joining Phrateres, you will discover that that the things that make you unique will add further depth to the makeup to this club.  Remember: the club doesn’t make the people, the people make the club.
*

Social:    You’ll always have something to do on Friday and Saturday nights!

Phrateres social events are a great way to build your social life on campus.  Exchanges (Phrateres and a certain fraternity) happen pretty much every week.  Some annual exchanges include Beerhunter, Tacos n’ Tequila, Centurion, Small Rooms, Mini golf etc.
*
We also have a semi-formal and a formal.  Have a grad dress in your closet that you thought you would never wear again?  Well we’ve given you the perfect excuse!
*
Bar parties are also typical in a Phrateres year.  We will put on a bar party and raise money for a specified charity.  Not only do you get to have fun night out with your friends, you get to help out a good cause
*

Service:   Charity ROCKS!

The service events put on by Phrateres are widely recognized by the local community.  These events include both Phrateres-only events and events in cooperation with some of the fraternities.  Phrateres is a non-profit organization which means all the money we raise is donated.
*
Some examples of the service events we put on/participate in are:
Terry Fox Run:  We organize the UBC run to raise money for Cancer research
Trick or Eat:  Trick-or-treating for canned food for the food bank. Bonus: most people will also give you candy for your good work !
Halloween Pub Crawl:  Cruise around the local clubs and bars raising money for unicef!
Variety Club Telethon:  We hold down the graveyard shift answering phones, taking pledges and meeting Squire Barnes.  And you might get to be on TV!

*

Sports:    Become a part of the Fly Phi team!

Through Phrateres you have the opportunity to get involved in intramural sports, events, and tournaments put on by REC.  We have teams that are just girls and some that are CoRec, joined with a frat. As well, we participate in activities that intermix with our 4S’s. For example, we participate in UBC Rec’s Lace Up For Kids-a service and sports event annually!
