Deploy Extension:PersonalDashboard to id.wiki, tr.wiki, simple.wiki, and th.wiki
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

As part of our pilot for Extension:PersonalDashboard, we would like to deploy our MVP to:

  • Indonesian Wikipedia (idwiki)
  • Turkish Wikipedia (trwiki)
  • Simple English Wikipedia (simplewiki)
  • Thai Wikipedia (thwiki)

When initially deployed, the configuration for displaying the blue invite dot (T410036), and for adding the personal tools menu link (T417666), should be disabled, so that we can test the page before inviting users.

On these wikis we should have a minimum edit count of 100 edits, and no maximum edit count.

note to add the following in the change request commit message for the initial silent rollout:

Depends-On: I43a98b060195a83cbe6f685b9afc4c11f65c0948

This will make sure that we have the configuration variable available to hide the menu link (and therefore the blue dot as well) in our deployment patch

Change #1244046 had a related patch set uploaded (by Scardenasmolinar; author: Scardenasmolinar):

The only question I have is if the minimum edit count of 100 edits applies to PersonalDashboardBlueDotMinimumEdits (which is already the default) and to PersonalDashboardRiskyArticleEditsMinimumEditCount (where the default is 0). If so, we would just have to change PersonalDashboardRiskyArticleEditsMinimumEditCount from my config patch to 100.

We're not using that edit count gate right now, so 0 is good!

Awesome! Then I think my patch is GTG for deployment tomorrow, pending reviews.

Deploy went off without a hitch; note that manually navigating to the personaldashboard page does generate a JS instrumentation warning:
ClickThroughRateInstrument: selector #pt-personaldashboard does not exist
which makes sense since we've rolled out without the menu entry

@Samwalton9-WMF just noting that we'll need guidance on when to do the "out loud" deployment
