Paul McGrady is an American intellectual property lawyer and ICANN community participant specializing in trademarks, domain names and Internet policy. He is a founding partner of Elster & McGrady, a law firm established in 2023.[1]
McGrady represented the Intellectual Property Constituency on the GNSO Council from 2015 to 2019.[2] He returned to the Council in 2020 as the Nominating Committee-appointed voting member assigned to the Non-Contracted Parties House and served until the conclusion of ICANN 84 in October 2025.[3][4]
His GNSO work has included serving as Council liaison to the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures PDP Working Group and the GNSO Guidance Process for Applicant Support. He also led the Council small team addressing pending recommendations from the Subsequent Procedures PDP.[5] In February 2026, the GNSO Council appointed McGrady as Chair of the DNS Abuse Mitigation PDP 1 Working Group.[6]
McGrady has represented trademark owners, registries and registrars in domain name disputes and ICANN policy matters. He previously chaired the International Trademark Association's Internet Committee and served on its Board of Directors.[7]
