    1. (geology) Elevation (of land) that occurred in the geological past.
      • 1999, Alan Graham, Late Cretaceous and Cenozoic History of North American Vegetation:
        In the Basin and Range province paleoelevations were calculated for two Late Eocene floras in northeastern Nevada (Povey et al., 1994).
