editEtymology
editBy surface analysis, *ак (*àk, “hinter land; upland, upshore”) + -ей (-ey, petrified directive suffix). Cognate with Yug а̀гей (àgey), where the directive suffix is fully retained.
This term, despite being an adverb, is also found in petrified genitive (агат (áɣat)) and dative (агариӈ (áɣar’iŋ)) declensions that convey motion in opposite direction (“from land to water, shore, or lower ground”). These declined forms can also convey “from forest to village”, a novel innovation not found in ага (áɣa).
Pronunciation
editAdverb

- upland, upshore (from water or shore to land or higher ground)
- Дага огонь, къга огонен. ― Dáɣa òɣon’, kʌ́ga òɣon’en. ―

- Дага огонь, къга огонен. ― Dáɣa òɣon’, kʌ́ga òɣon’en. ―
