Mississippi Highway 454

[edit]

Tiny article, but it's out of date since the Greenville bypass appears to have been completed last year, thus meaning that previously constructed bridge and western alignment change have happened. Could someone with more road article familiarity fix this up to match? Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 20:20, 11 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Interstate 24 discussion

[edit]

I've started a discussion at Talk:Interstate 24 about a potential split once again, as I am in the process of expanding information. Bneu2013 (talk) 04:45, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Repost of discussion from I-24 talk page:

I have been working on drafts for state-level articles again (see Draft:Interstate 24 in Tennessee, Draft:Interstate 24 in Kentucky, Draft:Interstate 24 in Illinois), and am proposing to fork these articles again soon, although I still have some work to do. I completely understand the argument against this since a majority of I-24 is in Tennessee, and I think that it does have some merit. However, the Kentucky section, at nearly 100 miles long, is still significant. While it hasn't changed much since its initial construction, the routing debate is still very important and worthy of inclusion. Same for the Illinois section; having state-level articles allows us to go more in-depth about the different routings proposed in each state without a single article getting too cluttered. In fact, the routing proposals actually pertain more to Kentucky and Illinois, as the Tennessee portion of the extension was less contentious. Furthermore, the Tennessee draft is now at 7,600 words, and if we were to discuss all of this in just one article combined with the other states, this would most certainly approach WP:SUMMARY violations. Add the fact that the Tennessee section is about to see probably the second-most expensive individual highway project in US history, behind the Big Dig (which has its own article, and the unique urban congestion patterns that it experiences. I completely understand how the Georgia segment complicates this, as this is a unique situation. I'm completely open to titling an article "Interstate 24 in Tennessee and Georgia", although others have argued that this gives the Georgia segment undue weight, and I think just "Interstate 24 in Tennessee" is satisfactory. I also want to reiterate that this is not the same situation that existed during the merger ten years ago; this is an argument that should generally be avoided. The Tennessee article only included content about Monteagle Mountain and a sinkhole in 2010, besides a brief lead. There was absolutely nothing about the history, extension, routing debate, widening projects, congestion, interchange projects, etc. This article is light-years ahead of where it was in 2016.
