Wang Yilin (Chinese: 王宜林; pinyin: Wáng Yílín; born September 1956) is a Chinese businessman who was the chairman of the Board of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and the chairman of the Board of PetroChina.
Wang, as the country's most influential business leader, has accompanied Chinese Communist Party general secretary Xi Jinping during many state visits, including to the UK, France, Kazakhstan, Russia, UAE etc.[1][2][3][4]
Biography
[edit]In April 2011, Wang assumed the role of Chairman of China National Offshore Oil Corporation.[5]
In November 2012, he was elected member of the CCP's 18th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.[6]
Downfall
[edit]On 2 February 2024, Wang was put under investigation for alleged "serious violations of discipline and laws"by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), the party's internal disciplinary body, and the National Supervisory Commission, the highest anti-corruption agency of China.[7] In July 2024, Wang was expelled from the CCP for discipline violations.[8]
On 13 May 2025 he was sentenced to 13 years in prison for bribery.[9]
