New merge/notability discussion at Brian Thompson (businessman)

[edit]

Hello there! I noticed you recently participated in a discussion of a requested move for the article Brian Thompson (businessman). That discussion was closed without an ultimate consensus decision for procedural reasons. There is a new discussion open on the article talk page, and all participants in the prior move discussion are encouraged to participate. Thank you! Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Gregg Phillips, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Republican Party was added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

R. J. Dockery, thanks for all your work of late on Franklin & Marshall Diplomats football. I'm concerned though about several images you have uploaded to Commons and used here. You uploaded File:1985 Franklin & Marshall College v. Dickinson College football game.jpg with a CC BY-SA 4.0 license, but the source URL does not show that image license, and the copyright notice in the footer of the page states "All rights reserved". You also uploaded File:100th Gettysburg v. Franklin & Marshall football game.jpg with the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license, but again the source URL fails to confirm that license, and also gives a credit for the photo to a David Sinclair. Same issue with File:Franklin and Marshall Diplomats 2025 Centennial Conference title.png as well. Jweiss11 (talk) 19:06, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Writing to acknowledge I've seen this. Yes, these photos are under the correct copyright. I will get back to you on this matter soon. As for the 2025 Centennial Conference photo, I can personally confirm it's correctly attributed. Will reply soon with confirmation. R. J. Dockery (talk) 19:37, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay, please let know the details as soon as you can. These copyright details should be made abundantly clear on the documentation for the files. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 03:06, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
R. J., can you provide anything more here? Thanks. Jweiss11 (talk) 19:41, 11 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the delay, this slipped my mind. I reached out to F&M, Dickinson, and Gettysburg; they all confirmed these were appropriate to use on Wikipedia, but they didn't point me to an explicit copyright policy. It might be best to take them down for now and reupload at a later date. R. J. Dockery (talk) 21:06, 11 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for getting back to me. If you're already in touch with people at these schools, you may want to tell that if they denote these images on their websites with a clear Creative Commons license, then we can use them on Wikipedia without question. Nevonians

[edit]

I am having trouble finding sources to support your re-titlng of F&M season article prior to 1916. What sources do you have for the teams before 1916 being known as Nevonians? Thanks. Cbl62 (talk) 03:04, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi. There are a few sources I consulted. For quick reference, see Franklin & Marshall College's athletic department: "On October 18, 1887, the Nevonians (as all F&M teams were known until 1935) boarded Conestoga Wagons and traveled to the York YMCA for the first recorded game in the program's history."[1][2] "Nevonian" existed as a nickname for Franklin and Marshall student organizations since at least 1893.[3] See page 146 of The Oriflamme, the student-published yearbook.
