@dreamyshade I submitted my article for publication and it was declined due to conflict of interest. I had previously noted my conflict of interest on my page and shared that I am only paid by the organization when the summer program I was hired to work with runs. How do I get my article published? --IQEES (talk) 13:14, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I was wondering why you removed the reference to the Olugbo of Ugbo from the page above. If memory serves, the reference that stated that he was worth $300 million was a Forbes one. Isn't that usually considered reliable for such purposes?
@O.ominirabluejack Hi, thanks for asking! See WP:FORBESCON: "Most content on Forbes.com is written by contributors or 'Senior Contributors' with minimal editorial oversight, and is generally unreliable. Editors show consensus for treating Forbes.com contributor articles as self-published sources, unless the article was written by a subject-matter expert. Forbes.com contributor articles should never be used for third-party claims about living persons." In the cited Forbes article, the byline is "Mfonobong Nsehe, Former Contributor", so my understanding is that we should treat it as a self-published source, not reliable enough to use a citation for statements about living people.
Thanks for the clarification. I guess that we'll have to hope that someone comes out with a more reliable citation... Thanks also for the heads up regarding the Ife list. I'll take a look at it.

Hi, I received a decline to another article that stated "Please remove all inline external links from body text, these are not allowed; convert to inline citations where relevant.
Make sure that every material statement, anything potentially contentious, and all private personal details are clearly supported by inline citations to reliable published sources or else removed". I went to the linked cite and I am not getting what I need to be doing. Can you help me figure this out? Thank you. --IQEES (talk) 16:17, 23 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks again for such a detailed GA review on Logan Express! It's really satisfying to feel like an article has come out of the review significantly stronger than it went in. I hope you enjoyed the process and decide to do it again (and nominate some of your own!) If you do more reviews, I highly recommend User:Novem Linguae/Scripts/GANReviewTool which makes some of the closing tasks very simple. Best, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:25, 29 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I actually haven't seen much evidence that the mining has caused significant environmental issues in recent times. Where is the source for this? The landfill certainly has. Kingsmasher678 (talk) 17:11, 31 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Kingsmasher678 Good point! I was reading in "Environmental Impact of Hazardous Waste in East Tennessee Karst": "Mine tailings were not removed and were used in place of soil as a fill cover." and "The presence of supergene mineralization and the mining operations in the cove have contributed to high background levels of iron, lead, zinc, and manganese." But looking at the other materials, it doesn't seem to have been a significant factor, so I just cut that bit that I added. Dreamyshade (talk) 17:54, 31 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)
I nominate Dreamyshade to be Editor of the Week for 25 years of contributions. Dreamyshade joined the project in October 2001, only a few short months after Wikipedia was launched. The first edit to her talk page was by Larry Sanger. In early days, she created some foundational articles (Los Angeles, Code of Hammurabi, and Pablo Neruda among them). She's supported and documented Wikipedia offline, taken photos of local landmarks, and run numerous edit-a-thons. Through her edit-a-thons, scores of new editors have joined or contributed to the project. On-site, she has mentored yet more newbies, written DYKs, and added countless sources to verify unverified sentences. She is an exemplar of the best of Wikipedians, contributing steadily for well over two decades. She truly deserves the honor of being Editor of the Week.

Hi, Dreamyshade. I think you're bitten by the data bug as I am, right? If so, you may be interested in this retention graph, which I'd never seen before. I think your longevity is a data point somewhere near the bottom right corner of the graph. Both axes are years, with x=month+year of first edit, and y=some later month+year where users had at least ten edits. (You can switch from ten edits to one edit below the graph.) With difficulty, you can hover the bottom right corner pixel (or close to it), which generates a pop-up label that says, '1 user who had their first edit in 01/2002 [not you; I know] edited in 01/2006'. If you click anywhere in the colored part, you get a 'cross section' graph top right, showing how many people are still editing N months after their starting point, and you can hover that one as well and get pop-up labels specifying how many users are in the first-edit-in-mm/yy-that-also-had-ten-edits-in-mm/yy cohort. The color-slider control becomes useful for the cross-section graph.
I couldn't find a pixel in the lower-right corner of the main graph that has a starting edit any earlier than '01/2002', but if you find that one and click it, then you get a very skinny 'cross section' graph top right, and hovering that one, you can find a pixel (a vertical line, actually) where you get a pop-up label that says, '2 users that had their first edit in 10/2001 edited in 10/2025'. The graph is newer than that, probably Jan. 2026, as you can see by hovering anywhere on the right edge, but since that cross-section is the 288-month longevity cross-section, they started later than you (in 01/2002). All of these stats in the default graph are for users that had >= 10 edits in the month in question (you had 13 in your first month, so you meet the threshold for the default graph) but if you want to see how you compare to users with >= 1 edit in their start (and later) months, click the '1' in the 'versions' line below the graph.
By selecting '1', and the middle triangle control (vertical section), and then clicking the main graph on the right edge, the top right graph becomes 'Users that edited in 01/2026'. (Recommended: use the color slider so you see vertical color bars in the top graph; it doesn't affect the numbers, but at least you don't have a completely blank graph to look at.) Hovering that graph, you can find a pixel that pops up '5 users that had their first edit in 10/2001 edited in 01/2026'. So, you are one of only five editors in your start cohort still going as of this January. (I wonder who the others are; do you know any of your 'freshman class' fellows?) And, okay, yes, I am a wikiholic! Where's my 12-step program? Cheers, Mathglot (talk) 18:31, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I was wondering if in your opinion this sub-article might be better off merged into the parent article. The controversy section would fit neatly with the controversy section of the parent article, while the previous sections likely would better serve as part of the Opus Dei#History, which is currently particularly lacking in the coverage of the political history of the prelature. — ♠ Ixtal( T / C ) ⁂Non nobis solum ♠ 01:19, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I’d support a proposal to merge. This sub-topic article has a lot of poorly-sourced and essay-like material, and merging the relevant and sourced material would strengthen the main article. This article isn’t fulfilling its stated scope as-is; there’s reliable secondary source material about Opus Dei and the current Trump administration that is not in this article. LLM prods may only be removed after all content and its sources [are] closely reviewed, and reworked as needed, to ensure that they comply with polices and guidelines per the objection process.
Thank you! Appreciate that folks userfied these two articles for me. I'd read the instructions in "Reversing removal of content", but they didn't clearly indicate to me that an editor has to do a full review and rework before removing the LLM PROD tag. I'll suggest clarifying this over on the talk page. Dreamyshade (talk) 18:08, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

@dreamyshade You reverted the part on secrecy on the Opus Dei lemma. Reference 13 refers to a Time article. I have a background in working with and studying human factors in large organizations. When investigating the Time article I found the following: In 1982 a new document repudiated "secrecy or clandestine activity," and Bohlin, the U.S. vicar, claims that the continuing impression is a misunderstanding based again on decentralization. "People [get Opus training] and go back to where they were," he says. "So we never march in a parade as a group because we don't form a group. And when people don't see us marching, they say, 'They must be secret.'"-- What struck me was the theme of decentralization, I do think this should have a place in the article to be honest, unless discussing accusations of secrecy is a matter of cherry picking. I'm not a fervent Wikipedia editor, so in case this is not the place or right way to discuss things, I do apologize. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Deomglor (talk • contribs) 20:13, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

When a new species name is accepted by science, it is proper to move the article (if it was using the scientific name as its title) and to rewrite it from the perspective of the new name, not just put a single sentence in that says what the new name is. I've gone and done that for E. aranearum. Please take a look for future changes. - In solidarity, UtherSRG(talk)13:59, 16 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! I figured it needed a more experienced eye, which is why I posted it on WikiProject Fungi.:) It was a little ambiguous to me what the correct approach was, since other pages like the NCBI Taxonomy Browser seemed to list Engyodontium aranearum as the primary key for the item, and I saw other articles like this one with different proposals for naming. The article seems like it'd benefit from a link to entomopathogenic fungus for context for curious non-expert readers (like me!), but I'm also not sure if that's correct. Dreamyshade (talk) 14:30, 16 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I'm not a member of that project, but I have my thumb in taxonomy articles as a whole. Yeah, this article probably needs more work, but at least it's now internally consistent. Probably the next step would be to remove the link from the old genus article (you can indicate in the article that the taxon was moved from the old genus to the new) and ensure it exists on the new genus article as well. - In solidarity, UtherSRG(talk)14:39, 16 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.
I’m a Signpost contributor and I’m editing an article: Meet the Wikimedians of the Year 2026! Here is the current draft, open for copy editing: Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Next issue/News from Diff The words are direct from the WMF copy but I added links and pictures to add more information to everyone’s story. Our pending drafts!
Hi Dreamyshade, thanks for participating in the Articles for Creation August Backlog Drive! We've done amazing work so far, dropping the backlog by more than 3000 drafts already.
We have around 1300 drafts outstanding, and we need your help to get that down to zero in the next 10 days. We can do this, but we need all hands on deck to help make it happen – if everyone who signed up to the drive reviewed just 1–2 drafts a day for the next ten days, we'd be down to zero in no time! A list of the pending drafts can be found at WP:AFCSORT, where you can select submissions in your area of interest, or you can find a random submission here. Thank you so much for your work so far, and happy reviewing! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Dreamyshade. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Sure! I put a few options on Wikipedia:WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography/Unreviewed articles, based on different subcategories roughly aligned with task forces. The results in each subcategory seem pretty similar though. Do any of the more specific ones seem useful? There are some miscellaneous off-topic items because of nested subcategories, but if there are major irrelevant categories, let me know and I can add them to the query to rule them out. You can also edit the source and adjust the number of items, remove sections, etc. Dreamyshade (talk) 05:28, 24 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! Yeah, the organized crime and terrorism categories are unfortunately rather mixed up, so I don't think it's going to be clean enough to be useful to separate those. But it looks good, thank you. PARAKANYAA (talk) 05:43, 24 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
On 1 September 2026, a one-month backlog drive for new pages patrol will begin at a particularly important time for NPP.
The backlog has now passed 30,000 unreviewed articles, a level that has been described in current NPP discussions as exceptionally high and potentially difficult to overcome through normal reviewing alone. Backlog drives are one of the few measures that have historically produced a noticeable reduction in the backlog, so the participation of as many active patrollers as possible will matter this month.
If you can review during September, please make articles your priority. Every article that is reviewed is a meaningful reduction in the backlog. With the queue at its current size, even a relatively small increase in the number of articles each patroller reviews can add up to a substantial difference over the course of the month.
This is a hybrid drive, so redirect reviewing is still included. Redirects can be a useful way for newer patrollers to get comfortable with NPP and can help people build up to reviewing articles. However, the main goal of this drive is to tackle the article backlog, and experienced patrollers are particularly encouraged to spend as much of their available reviewing time on articles as they can.
Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled.
Each article review will earn 1 point, while each redirect review will earn 0.2 points.
Streak awards will be given out based on consistently hitting point thresholds for each week of the drive.
Barnstars will also be granted for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive.
If you have been thinking about doing more NPP, this is an especially good month to jump in. Whether you can review a few pages or hundreds, every review helps. And if you are already an active patroller, please consider whether you can put in some additional time during September to help bring the backlog back under control.

Hi Dreamyshade, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Hiya Dreamyshade. I've been working on the NPP backlog and I came across an article you tagged for LLM back in April. The original author shows no signs of coming back to clean it up. How confident are you about the LLM diagnosis? If you are fairly sure, I will stubbify it and mark as reviewed. If not we could just review it and leave tags on. The history section strikes me as quite LLMy too, but I'm no expert.Boynamedsue (talk) 16:11, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello Dreamyshade,
I’m reaching out because you recently removed an edit I made to Drug paraphernalia due to Undisclosed advertising concern. I’m not contacting you to dispute the removal. I’d simply like to better understand how I should participate in this topic appropriately under Wikipedia’s policies.
For transparency, I am affiliated with the team developing EZ-UP Aurora. I understand that this creates a conflict of interest when I contribute to topics related to Aurora or the technology behind it, even if my intention is to write neutrally.
The reason I became interested in contributing to Wikipedia is that Aurora uses electronically controlled combustion of dry herbs rather than vaporization. From our perspective, this represents a technical distinction from conventional dry-herb vaporizers and traditional manually operated smoking devices, and we believe there may be a broader category of automated combustion devices worth documenting.
At the same time, I understand that our own view is not enough to establish such a category on Wikipedia. Whether this distinction belongs in an existing article, a new section, or a separate article should depend on reliable independent sources and the judgment of uninvolved editors.
Could you advise me on the appropriate way to contribute going forward? If we believe this broader technical category deserves coverage, what would be the appropriate way to propose it for independent review?
My goal is simply to understand the proper process and contribute useful, verifiable information without creating further COI concerns.

You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (AFRINIC), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Hi there! Thanks for the sources that you added to the StankDawg AfD. I was able to access both of the books, but the opinion piece is behind a login that I couldn't manage. Could you please send a copy of the relevant section to me? Thanks! --Elonka19:12, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

The administrator elections process has officially started! Qualified editors are encouraged to find at least one experienced nominator. Self-nominations are also allowed. Please review instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2026/Candidates.
Here is the schedule:
September 29–October 5: Nominations phase (we are here)
October 8–12: Discussion phase
October 13–19: SecurePoll voting phase
Please note the following:
The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed. However, in practice, few candidates succeed without ~10K edits, some content creation, no recent behavioral issues, and a nominator.
The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. Later, a user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

Thank you, glad they were up for changing this! I'm also seeing that the embedded version is not quite working as expected yet - showing the image first when clicked, instead of the interactive experience - but that's ok, still helpful for the reader in the meantime. Thank you for choosing to run in the October 2026 administrator elections. This bulletin contains some important information about the next stages of the election process.
As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
October 6–7: Housekeeping phase (we are here)
October 8–12: Discussion phase
October 13–19: SecurePoll voting phase
Scrutineering phase
All times are in UTC. The first date in the range starts at 00:00, and the last date in the range ends at 23:59. So for example, the Discussion phase opens on 8 October 2026 at 00:00 UTC, and ends on 12 October 2026 at 23:59 UTC.
We are currently in the Housekeeping phase. Your candidate subpage will remain closed to questions and discussion. However, this is an excellent opportunity for you to recruit nominators (if you want them) and have them place their nomination statements, and a good time for you to answer the standard three questions, if you have not done so already. We recommend you spend this phase getting your candidate page polished and ready for the next phase.
The discussion phase will take place from October 8–12. Your candidate subpage will open to the public and they will be permitted to discuss you and ask you formal questions, in the same style as a request for adminship (RfA). You are strongly encouraged to be around on those dates to answer the formal questions in a timely manner.
On 13 Oct, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. Anyone can see who has voted, but not who they voted for. You are permitted and encouraged to vote in the election, including voting for yourself. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see your vote total during the election.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which does not have an exact end date, but typically takes a few days to a week. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, you must receive at least 70% support, calculated as support ÷ (support + oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("'crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation as a candidate, and best of luck.
You're receiving this message because you are a candidate in the October 2026 administrator elections.

Dear Dreamyshade,
I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Twenty-Five Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for twenty-five years or more. IIRC you might have mentioned somewhere that you were from the July 2001 cohort. Apologies for the delayed invitation!

Hi Dreamyshade! We sent you an email recently from Jonathan Parker about our potential documentary project and just wanted to check that it reached you. No rush at all, just making sure it didn’t disappear into spam. Thanks! Schisandraa (talk) 17:42, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dreamyshade, feel very free to say No to this.
An embarrassing number of months ago I reverted Icinga to remove LLM text. The maintainers of Icinga very reasonably wrote to me and asked me to make a whole lot of COI changes to it, as the reversion version was badly out of date (and also, just bad). I made a poke at it and found it intractable with my skill set. You can see the gory details at User talk:M kuhner#Icinga article. As a result I have just been procrastinating endlessly.
Is it possible you could look at this? I think it's closer to your area of expertise than it is to mine.
On 13 Oct, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for.
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.
