Reinstate Elizabeth and Margaret as Grandchildren of George V. To not include them there is misinformation.

[edit]

As the template was, in some places the template displays without Elizabeth or Margaret being listed as grandchildren of Geroge V, and not in any other capacity either. for example, see info box in Prince_John_of_the_United_Kingdom. The changes I made now have it displaying correctly in that page, and hopefully in all places :-) --Richardb43 14:13, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Harewood

[edit]

The Harewood Brothers are not on the list —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.65.18.89 (talk) 17:49, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, simply because they do not belong to the House of Windsor (they belong to the Lascelles family). Just like Peter Phillips doesn't. I can see how the "grandchildren" heading can be seen as misleading, though, when the list only covers male-line grandchildren. Perhaps it can be made clearer. -- Jao (talk) 23:56, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

But they are grandchildren of King George V —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.64.226.46 (talk) 19:43, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nobody is disputing that. But under the "Grandchildren of King George V" subheader in the "House of Windsor" template, only those grandchildren of King George V who are also members of the House of Windsor qualify. -- Jao (talk) 20:18, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Great-grandchildren

[edit]

Elizabeth II has many Great-grandchildren, only 3 of them are mentioned in the Template. 67.170.255.241 (talk) 06:41, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Only the members of the House of Windsor (i.e. male line (great-)grandchildren) are included. meamemg (talk) 15:28, 20 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Why does the list not include other male-line descendants of Queen Victoria?

[edit]

Why does the template not include other male-line descendants of Queen Victoria who in 1917 assumed along George V and his immediate family the new name of Windsor? I mean particularly the Connaught family and Princess Alice of Albany. Per the 1917 royal proclamation, the King declared and anounced that "[his] House and Family shall be styled and known as the House and Family of Windsor, and that all the descendants in the male line of [his] said Grandmother Queen Victoria who are subjects of these Realms, other than female descendants who may marry or may have married, shall bear the said name of Windsor". I agree, perhaps have the generations starting from the children of Queen Victoria, given Prince Arthur and Princesses Helena, Louise, and Beatrice were all members of the House of Windsor following its founding in 1917. This would then allow more distant relations such as the Connaughts and Princess Alice to be included too. I also notice that a number of non-princely-titled members of the House of Windsor are not included, such as the descendants of the Dukes of Gloucester and Kent, many of whom have their own articles. Is this another thing that should be altered, or maybe a renaming of the template to show that only those with a royal style should be included (although this would then run the risk of requiring the removal of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the children of the Duke of Edinburgh.
