The 2026–27 Liga III, (also known as Superscore Liga 3 for sponsorship reasons),^[1] is the 71st season of Liga III, the third tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 28 August 2026 and will conclude in June 2027.^[2]^[3]

The format is maintained at 96 teams, divided into eight series of twelve, which are played across three phases: a regular season, post-season play-offs and play-outs, and a knockout tournament. In the regular season, each team plays 22 matches in a double round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the promotion play-offs and the rest entering the play-outs. In the play-offs, teams are paired with those from neighboring series (1–2, 3–4, 5–6, 7–8) and carry over only the points obtained against the other qualified teams from their regular-season series, with the series winners being promoted to Liga II and the runners-up entering a knockout tournament for the fifth promotion spot. In the play-outs, teams ranked 5th–12th play a single round-robin, carrying over their regular-season points. The bottom two teams in each of the eight series are relegated to Liga IV, along with five additional 10th-placed teams that are determined based on the overall ranking.^[3]

Team changes

Promoted to Liga II

Cetatea Suceava – ended a one-year stay.
Ștefănești – ended a two-year stay.
Râmnicu Vâlcea – ended a three-year stay.
Politehnica Timișoara – ended a three-year stay.
Popești-Leordeni – ended a thirteen-year stay.

Relegated from Liga II

Dinamo București and Olimpia Satu Mare – were spared relegation and admitted to fill the vacant spots in the second tier.
Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț – returned after three years.
Tunari – returned after one year.
Câmpulung Muscel – returned after two years and was subsequently disbanded.

Other changes

Hușana Huși, Talna Orașu Nou, Viitorul Sântimbru, Astra Plosca, Lupii Profa and Gloria Ivești declined promotion.

Gheorgheni, Bacău II, Râmnicu Sărat, Oțelul Galați II, Agigea, Dinamo 1948 II, Voluntari II, Urban Titu, Teleajenul Vălenii de Munte, Pucioasa, Filiași, Unirea Bascov and Unirea Dej were spared relegation.

Știința Miroslava was excluded for failing to meet the administrative registration criteria.^[4]

Șoimii Gura Humorului, Bucovina Rădăuți, Victoria Traian and Petrolul Ploiești II had withdrawn and were formally excluded by the FRF.

Oxigen București and Politehnica Timișoara II were invited to fill the vacant spots.

Promotion play-offs

The teams ranked 2nd in the four play-off series will be qualified for the promotion play-offs for the fifth promotion spot and were paired by draw. For each tie, the first team drawn acted as the host of the semi-final while the final while the final will be hosted by the winner of the first semi-final.

Possible relegation

At the end of the season, a special ranking will be compiled among the teams finishing 10th in each of the eight series in order to determine five additional relegated teams based on the overall ranking. The table will be drawn up by calculating each team's points coefficient, with points divided by the number of matches played throughout the entire season, including both the regular season and the play-out.^[3]
