Examples of the navigation templates.
[edit | edit source]There are several navigation templates. I've used {{Navigation ...}} in Oberon Computing. Someone please point to a few other books where a navigation template is used at the top of pages.
Searching for a string in rendered pages is easy. Can source pages be searched? How?

Chess template help
[edit | edit source]Hello, I have made some changes on the Chess/Checkmates page. I would like the additions that I have added similar to the format for the other subheadings (e.g. the format of my additions similar to the backrank mate), because I don't really get the syntax for the {{Chess diagram}} template. Kind regards, TechVindicator (discuss • contribs) 12:48, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
- There are instructions for how to Template:Chess diagram in the documentation for the page, and a worked example. Basically you use the letter for the piece (r, n, k etc) and whether it is white (l, i.e. light) or black (d, i.e. dark) to represent each piece, and you put it in a field the number of which represents which square it is on the board.
- An alternative is Template:Chess/board which works differently and takes different inputs. With this one you can insert a move list (PGN notation) or a board position (FEN notation).

Preventing a URL within code tags from becoming live
[edit | edit source]If I have a URL within tags, say sftp://fred@server.example.org/home/fred/Documents/, how do I prevent it from being automatically turned into a link in a Wikibook? I've searched around a bit and not found the answer. — Larsnooden (discuss • contribs) 14:03, 11 October 2026 (UTC)
- Try using
tags. Codename Noreste /// ⭐️✨ 14:20, 11 October 2026 (UTC) - Thanks. That was it. — Larsnooden (discuss • contribs) 15:06, 11 October 2026 (UTC)
