Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Invitation to the Wikimedia Commons Pre-Conference at the Wikimania 2026

Hello Granada,

I want to invite you to participate at our Wikimedia Commons Pre-Conference at the Wikimania in Paris on July 21. If you want to join the pre-conference, please sign up on this page until July 7. Participation at the pre-conference is also possible without a ticket for the Wikimania. If you sign up before the deadline on July 7, you will get free access to the pre-conference day. Unfortunately, online participation will not be possible.

If you have something you want to present or you want to talk about at the pre-conference, please add it here, also until July 7.

There is also a service announcement for all photographers coming to Paris: Unfortunately, France has no freedom of panorama at all. Therefore, Commons does not accept photos of modern buildings, public art or light installations at night. Read more about the problem here.

Besides the invitation to our pre-conference, there is another announcement: We updated the membership list of the Commons Photographers User Group. The membership list is much smaller now and based on a template. This allows us to easily create message lists and statistics. Please have a look at your entry in the list and update it if needed.

Nomination button

Hi Granada, good question. A while ago I reorganised my scripts, the nomination buttons (FP, QI and VI) moved out of fpc-archiver.js into a separate script, commons-nominator.js. Your common.js still loads fpc-voter.js and fpc-archiver.js, but not the new one, so the "Nominate for FP" button went away. (The "Nominate for QI" button you still see comes from the official QI gadget, which is why it stayed.)

To bring the FP button back, just add this line to Special:MyPage/common.js:

mw.loader.load( '/w/index.php?title=User:Wilfredor/commons-nominator.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript' );

After a refresh (you may need to bypass your browser cache), the 🌟 Nominate for FP button should be back on every File page, right next to the QI one. Let me know if it does not appear.

Commons Photographers User Group: Vote on the rules for membership

Hello Granada,

you are listed as a member of the Commons Photographers User Group. We are happy that we have over 340 people listed as our members. But we also want to implement rules on when inactive users are removed from the membership list, to get a realistic number of our community size.

The suggested rule is that members need one edit per year to stay a member and at least one upload to Commons to become a member.

Please vote on this suggestion here until September 24.

On July 21, we had our first Wikimedia Commons pre-conference with over 40 participants as part of the Wikimania in Paris. You can have a look at the program and the slides here.
