"This new Seminar Study presents a full, succinct and balanced overview of the policies and impact of the Thatcher Governments from 1979 to 1990. Within a chronological framework, the authors analyse the many controversial episodes and aspects of Margaret Thatcher's premiership, including the Falklands War; the miners' strike; Britain's relationship with the USA and the stationing of missiles at Greenham Common; the bitter relationship with Europe and the ill-fated poll tax. In addition, there is a chapter discussing the impact that her policies had on Britain's social and economic landscape and on the British people at large."--Jacket

"The significance of Mrs. Thatcher's premiership is undeniable and her policies and personality continue to arouse passionate debate. This book will be of great interest to undergraduate and sixth form students as well as to the general reader who is keen to grasp a fuller understanding of the Thatcher years."--Jacket
