With recent versions of the Linux kernel at large we have been seeing some nice I/O improvements. This was the case here even with the budget Wildcat Lake laptop from CHUWI seeing improved I/O performance on Ubuntu 26.10 thanks to its Linux 7.2 kernel. Linux 7.3 also has more in store for I/O performance albiet out of scope for Ubuntu 26.10.

Not only was the storage performance better with Ubuntu 26.10, but the Wildcat Lake integrated graphics have a nice boost on Ubuntu 26.10 thanks to Linux 7.2 and Mesa 26.2 graphics drivers.
