Tesla kicked off deliveries of the final Model S, based on the Plaid version and coming in the shape of the Signature Edition, starting at $159,420. Only 250 such cars will see the light of day, and this is what customers are getting for the money.

Tesla officially announced the discontinuation of the Model S and Model X during its Q4 2025 earnings call on January 28, 2026. Production officially ended shortly after, with the final flagship sedans rolling off the production line of the Fremont factory in California on May 10, 2026.

The Signature Edition is the swan song of the Model S, also offered for the discontinued Model X. Tesla sent official emails to customers confirming the end of production and warning them that the remaining inventory is limited.

The Signature Edition is an invite-only model

Others got another sort of email. The Signature Edition is an invite-only variant, so you can’t just walk into a showroom and go home with one. You have to be somebody, from Tesla's point of view, to get your hands on one.

Well, Elie Rothstein is somebody. Alongside Jon Pek, he is the co-founder of T Sportline, the world's first Tesla tuner, specializing in premium aftermarket accessories, wheels, and interior upgrades for all Tesla models.

Elie placed an order for a Model S Signature Edition, and he got a call from someone from Tesla, who told him to go pick up his new electric sedan. All the 250 units are finished in Garnet Red, an exclusive deep-red finish that serves as a tribute to the original 2012 Model S Signature edition.

The car comes with Gold-finished Tesla "T" badges, gold "Plaid" lettering, the "Signature" emblem on the liftgate, and matching gold brake calipers, along with various gold elements inside the cabin. Body-colored door handles are a first for Tesla. The EV rides on 21-inch Signature wheels.

White Alcantara and carbon fiber accents are on board. A numbered plaque on the dashboard shows the car’s build number, along with custom-lit Signature door sills.

Lifetime Full Self-Driving (Supervised), free lifetime Supercharging, and four years of premium service and maintenance are on the menu. Tesla originally offered the Track Package at an extra cost, but it ran out of it, and customers can no longer spec their cars with it.

Elie, however, is among the few lucky ones. His car is equipped with the Track Pack, which brings carbon ceramic brakes, track-ready brake fluid, lightweight forged aluminum wheels, and race-ready summer tires. His car is number 57 of 250.

No extra oomph

There is no change performed on the powertrain, which means that the Tesla Model S Signature Edition comes with the standard tri-motor setup of the Plaid version, producing 1,020 horsepower. That’s good enough for a run from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 1.99 seconds.

This is what Elie from T Sportline is going home with. Wearing white gloves, the salesman offers him the two keys to his new car on a gold platter, inside a gold box. Both keys are in Garnet Red and Black, just like his car.

He also goes home with a Signature white hat and a Signature water bottle. "Customization starts today," Elie says. Is he really going to wrap it and cover that gorgeous factory paint?
