Svetopys: A Manifesto of Breath
by Roman Chernenko
There is a way of writing that does not rush to say.
It does not persuade.
It does not shine like lightning.
It glows – like fire beneath snow.
It is the way of listening first.
We call it Svetopys.
Not a genre. Not a technique.
But a way of walking through words —
as one walks through forest before dawn,
where even silence has texture.
In Svetopys, the sentence does not prove.
It remembers.
It slows down.
It lets the moment settle,
like dust on an old windowsill.
There are no sharp edges here.
Only light diffused —
between gesture and glance,
between question and reply,
between what is said
and what is held back.
A phrase may stop mid-thought —
not because it is lost,
but because it is whole in its incompletion.
The reader will feel it.
If they trust the hush.
Svetopys is not a place of cleverness.
It is a place of presence.
We do not build noise here.
We build stillness that resonates.
We write as if we are lighting a candle inside the reader —
not flashing a screen in front of them.
Our characters do not perform.
They breathe.
They forget.
They remember too much.
Sometimes they just look at the fog
and say nothing.
This is Svetopys.
It will not fight to be understood.
But it will wait – gently —
for the one who has long searched
for exactly this kind of silence.
And when they find it,
they will not call it literature.
They will call it a return.

Footnote
This is not an official explanation.
This is a whisper – from the soul of the style itself.
It walks beside the earlier manifesto.
But it looks you in the eye.
And waits.
