- Truncation and wildcards are supported.
- Use * for any number of characters (librar* finds library, libraries, and librarian).
- Use ? for a single character (wom?n finds woman and women).
- For best results, truncate at the root of a word. Because word-stemming is applied automatically, librar* finds far more than libraries*.
- Use quotation marks to search as an exact phrase. Wildcards do not work inside quotation marks.
- Use capitalized OR, AND, and NOT to create complex boolean logic.
- Word-stemming is automatic on ordinary searches, so running also finds run.
- Avoid typing a question mark as punctuation — it is treated as a wildcard.
