Sunset with sky colors due to the diffusion or scattering of light, radiation-matter interaction. High-frequency scattering for indigo (short wavelength), low-frequency scattering for orange (long wavelength).
Summary
[edit]| Description24.05.2025 scattering psc.jpg |
English: The colors of the sky at sunset arise from the phenomenon of Rayleigh scattering of sunlight, an incoherent and natural source, by molecules in the Earth's atmosphere (radiation-matter interaction). Short wavelengths (violet/blue) are scattered more intensely by high-frequency scattering, making the sky blue during the day. At sunset, the light passes through a thicker layer of atmosphere: the short wavelengths are scattered, and long wavelengths (red/orange) prevail as low-frequency scattering, giving the sky its characteristic warm colors. |
