Hi all, thanks for maintaining this package. I followed the conversation and was hoping I would be able to upgrade as well. Unfortunately, I still get errors:

/usr/bin/ld: /usr/include/c++/16/bits/unique_ptr.h:92:(.text.unlikely+0x12b0): undefined reference to `AVFrameWrapper::~AVFrameWrapper()'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [src/CMakeFiles/simplescreenrecorder.dir/build.make:998: src/simplescreenrecorder] Error 1
make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/Makefile2:187: src/CMakeFiles/simplescreenrecorder.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [Makefile:136: all] Error 2
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
    Aborting...

Does anyone know why? Thanks

**update 2026-10-01 just remove build folders and makepkg, works

Thanks for flagging these; sorted now.

jack2 will conflict with pipewire-jack. Does it explicitly requires jack2? Can it not depend on jack, which is provided by both?

Note this fails to build in a clean chroot unless if pipewire is pre-installed or specified as a dependency.

I can confirm catalin.hritcu’s suggestion regarding --parallel. The build was getting stuck at ~97% and the system became nearly unusable. Removing the --parallel flag fixed it

Thanks for flagging it @catalin.hritcu it's sorted now :)

Thanks for picking this up and doing the Qt6 + FFmpeg 9 port, much appreciated.

One problem with the new build(): cmake --build build --parallel is called without a job count. For the Unix Makefiles generator CMake then passes a bare -j to make, which means unlimited parallelism — and because it lands on the command line it overrides MAKEFLAGS from makepkg.conf.

Traced by pointing CMAKE_MAKE_PROGRAM at a logging wrapper (cmake 4.4.2, MAKEFLAGS="-j2"):

cmake --build build --parallel -> make -f Makefile -j # unlimited
cmake --build build --parallel 2 -> make -f Makefile -j2
cmake --build build -> make -f Makefile # inherits -j2

Note that CMAKE_BUILD_PARALLEL_LEVEL does not help here: that environment variable only applies when --parallel is not passed.

On my machine (8 cores, 23 GiB RAM, MAKEFLAGS="-j2") the build forked ~45 concurrent cc1plus processes at 200-450 MB each, hit 17.8 GiB RSS plus 8 GiB of swap, and triggered the OOM killer — it killed unrelated desktop processes before the build finished.

Suggested fix, just drop --parallel and respect whatever the user configured rather than overriding it.

Those are just build instructions for the latest commit. You might as well use simplescreenrecorder-git. simplescreenrecorder uses tag version 0.4.4 from 2021, but with patches. But maybe it's time for the developer to release a new version at some point…

I'm still using this. I've managed to get it working thanks to j77h's suggestion.

The pkgbuild is here: https://gist.github.com/radupotop/5355a4ec108fcf1c807868069eecc95a

You can just git clone that url and build it.

this worked on Manjaro X11 with the latest stable update. (it does not use this AUR package)

cd /mnt/data/build/ssr
git clone https://github.com/MaartenBaert/ssr.git
cd ssr
cmake -S . -B build -DWITH_QT6=TRUE -DWITH_QT5=FALSE
cmake --build build --parallel

the executable was then at: /mnt/data/build/ssr/ssr/build/src/simplescreenrecorder. it ran from there successfully; i have not made a package yet.
