Written by Michael Larabel in Virtualization on 9 September 2017 at 10:23 AM EDT. Add A Comment

The KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) and Xen updates have been submitted for the Linux 4.14 kernel merge window.

Among the KVM changes of interest are on the x86 front of now emulating Hyper-V TSC frequency MSR registers, supporting virtual GIF, supporting 5-level page tables, and some performance speedups around nested VM exits and MMIO.

The complete list of KVM changes for Linux 4.14 can be found via this pull request.

On the Xen front there are also many fixes and cleanups as outlined by its pull request.
