Starting May 12, 2027, United will operate direct flights between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU), opening a new gateway between Slovenia and the United States.

Ljubljana Airport welcomed its one-millionth passenger of 2026 on Friday, 31 July, reaching the milestone exactly three weeks earlier than last year. The earlier milestone reflects sustained passenger growth, increased airline capacity and the continued development of a broader and more diversified network of direct connections. Ljubljana Airport expects to welcome around 1.7 million passengers by the end of 2026.
Five years of the modern passenger terminal at Ljubljana Airport
The passenger terminal at Ljubljana Airport marks five years of operation. Opened to travellers in July 2021, the facility has played a key role in the airport’s transformation, enhancing both the passenger experience and operational performance while strengthening Ljubljana Airport’s position as a modern gateway to Slovenia and the wider region. Since opening, Terminal A has handled more than 6.4 million passengers, with approximately 1.7 million expected to pass through the terminal in 2026 alone.
